Brake Cooling Ducts
Well, after reading through several of the posts on brake cooling ducts I've decided to take it on. This is the drivers side. I've taken tons of photo's in order to build a DIY. I'm trying to fabricate some ducts to better direct the air flow to the center of the rotor. (hope the pictures upload works)
I'm in process of relocating the power steering cooler on the passenger side so the brake hose will fit. I don't know how others made it work without moving the power steering cooler?

Brake cooling ducts
So I've seen that picture in my searches where the air goes through the dust shield. I couldn't figure out how you got the brake hose to that spot since you have to come in the back side of disc? It looked like you can do this on the drivers side but it looks impossible on the passenger side? Do you have pictures of how the hose routes to the air coming in on the back side of rotor. I gave up on the back and started working on a metal duct that feeds threw the smaller front opening. Thanks!

Will definitely want to see some more photo's. When I looked at it the suspension fully relaxed looked like about 3.5" to 4" clearance so I thought it would just crush the hose when feeding it to the rear part of the rotor....
Fortunately, a new distraction just arrived today as I await some more parts for my brake ducts...

seems like a solid design...only issue I see is that the front air collector could use some work. All of the flat surface around the entry hole will cause turbulence in front of the entry preventing a quality level of air flow.
As for the heat shield, you can probably be fine without, but I would be more concerned with improving the front end entry like I mentioned about.
Seems like the latest thing to improve brake cooling are Wheel-Donuts, they're ona Ferrari, they must work:

OK, I hope I don't get too many chuckles...after wandering through Menards I saw some parts that look like they might work for my inlets. Just trying this out. It will be painted flat black to hide the inlets. I have to file down the threads so the hose will fit but I think this will be a cheap and hopefully functional way of temporarely attaching the inlets. I'm thinking of machining some Aluminum inlets but this should do for now...
These were about $4 and the OD with the threads is just a smidge too large for the 3" high temp hose to go over. Not keen on the grid so I may replace that with SS mesh I bought.

Ugly grill fixed! After looking at how to try something else I noticed the grill will snap off, out drops a piece and there is a perfect counterbore with a ledge. Ground the screen to size and dropped it in. I'm going to epoxy it in place then paint everything flat black. I think that looks much better! That's a pretty good adapter for around $4.

Ok, so a little more progress...cut the screen out, epoxy'd in place, painted and installed the adapters in the factory panels. Looks like I need to move the panels forward about an 1" to make it easier for the hose to connect and make the bend back to the brakes...

Well, mounted to the factor panel the inlets looked great but the radius was too tight for the hose to make the bend and go out the side. So I had to space everything forward about 1 to 1.5 inches and cut some of the grill off on the inside. Now everything fits and it can make the bend. I have to make some sheet metal boxes so that I can attach the inlet to them and the drivers side will be done...should look about like this when finished. The inlets are now aimed straight at the incoming air flow so that should help.
