Default Question about 03 track model brakes

I am currently looking at a nice silver 03 track model.
I will be inquiring about when the clutch was done as well as brakes (due to mileage).

If this is something I have to do,
Will other brakes fit on this car (the brembos may be out of my price range for the time being)?
What kits will provide good quality for daily driving on road (no tracking for at least a year)?

I am looking for something that in the worst case scenario I can replace them, so affordable is key.
Will I need both front and rear kits?

Thanks,

Christian

not really sure what your question is but if you cant afford the brembos then dont buy a track model. all track models come with the brembos and are great. downgrading would be a horrible idea. you gotta pay to play, and youre probably gonna get flamed for wanting to swap off your brembos

I understand. I also deserve the flaming lmao, forums are not new to me.
I am simply looking for a temporary switch and want to know if the other models brakes (non brembo's) will fit etc.
The car has too good of a price tag for me to believe there isn't something wrong with it.
Like i said, normal driving, no track for a year minimum, they will not be gone forever by any means.

Christian,

Go on E-bay and you can get pads+rotors delivered to your door form the US for $460CDN which is pocket change compared to what the dealer will try to stiff you for ($4000). You can do the brakes yourself, they are by far some of the easiest brakes to replace. The Brembo's (to me anyways) are worth the few extra bucks =)

Makes no sense for a temporary switch. Why do you think there is a problem with the brakes anyway? Are you worried about the pads? They are easier to change than non Brembos and the cost isn't that bad.

The switch would cost you even more money and labor. So... ???

So you are not wanting brembos because of the minimal price difference between pads and rotors for brembos versus non-brembos?

I am new to this car. I figured the brakes on the car (or maybe clutch) were not done around the 100k mark. If the price is too good to be true, it probably is. The car is fine on the exterior and interior, so it makes me wonder why it is so cheap compared to other Z's in the area even though it is a superior model.

As for switching, if there is little to no difference then sure, I guess I will dish out the extra. I just don't have a use for the better brakes over the normal stock ones. If I was going to track the car, then yes, Brembo all the way.

Thanks for the help, I hope to get the track model now knowing it won't be an arm and a leg to fix it when the time comes.

Axxis Ultimate pads are like $90 for a set for Brembos. Pretty comparable to non-Brembo pricing.

If the rotors will need to be replaced, R1concepts.com sells blanks for cheap.

If you decide to swap to the non-Brembo brakes I have a complete set (calipers, rotors, pads, and lines) that I will trade you + ~$500 for your Brembos.

Sounds like you are new to cars in general if the brakes are bugging you that bad. I still don't see the correlation where you think the brakes have the problem hence the price of the car. I'd be more concerned with a compression and leak down test more than brakes. good luck.

Get the 350Z first. We can fix the brakes later.
