Unhappy Possible issue with Coilovers ?!? KW V1

Hi I got this set of coilovers professionally installed about 2 months ago and the car drives amazingly, this is coming from oem shocks + tanabe gf210 springs. Recently I have noticed that the "front arms" or whatevery its called that sits on the top of the front tires are extremelly close to the both front tires, again the car drives well, no bad steering or anything but after today when I when over a bump after an extremelly sharp turn and I noticed this NASTY rub that made the car slow down and I def. felt something wrong. So again I do not know where to start. I will be taking some shots of the car so the experts can chime in! Sorry but I am concerned.

also keep in mind that I had the same setup incluiding wheels and tires with oem shocks + tanabe gf210 springs which made the car sit lower. I personally think the rear sits lower but I am thinking the front arm is way to close so I am confused.

Pictures look fine. Are you sure it was a tire rub? Maybe after your sharp turn over the bump your car bottomed out and scrapped something underneath which would cause the drag you felt.

There are alot of factors at play and next to 0 details posted. Get the car to a professional and let them go over it, this is not something you're going to likely diagnose via 1 nearly impossible to see picture.

THefarmer is right, it was most likely tire rub.......your suspension being professionally installed my azz......10 out of 10 "professional" installers can install a suspension correctly sure, but only about 1 out of 100 can do so setting up the suspension correctly.

Did the installer ensure that the front to rear height ratio with your drop is correct???? did they have the FSM and measure the height at each fender and ensure proper drop???

odds are you nose dived on your lil turn and rubbed...LOOK AT my suggestion on post 3 of this thread as you most likely have the same EXACT issue.
https://my350z.com/forum/brakes-and-...rs-vs-spl.html

The pin your trying to picture is your front spindle arm to upper control arm joint. there is no way that will touch unless you have a broken arm or some crazy flex...either way, you would see a "groove" in your tire as an indicator..

i say jack up the front of the car, remove the wheels and inspect for WHAT exactly rubbed and made contact and take pics so we can diagnose a bit better.....

odds are, its the height set up.

then next would be the pre-load on the springs is probably loose or not there...(as in spring perches aren't tight)

+1 get the car in the air, take wheel off, and SEE what "slowed" the car down - definitely will see a big groove in the tire if it slowed you down like you say it did..

FWIW, my completely stock '08 has 1.5" clearance between the tire and the end of the ball joint stud.

Nothing you can do to the suspension can change the relationship between the axle and the bottom of the ball joint stud, unless you bend the upper part of the spindle-knuckle. That relationship shouldn't change when you're driving around or going over bumps, either.

The clearance will be less if you're running oversize tires/wheels.

relax bro you probably hit the center bolt that holds the front fender liner to the fender, a lot of flush guys take that bolt out.

I myself kept hitting it for 2 months every bump until I realized what was going on and took it out.

you shouldn't immediately blame the coils. I have the same ones and i've experienced nothing but great performance and handling since i got them. I've had no tire rubbing issues even when i bottom out. As stated above you should get them checked again

Oh no I am not blaming anything but I had the same setup before the coilovers and the wheels are pretty much the same size as OEM. these are 18 x 8.5 all around. Im just trying to get to the bottom of this issue. I raised the car a lil bit with these coilover because I wanted a comfortable ride and it delivers it. These coilovers are amazing, the car drivers like it never did before but I dont wanna be concerned with cornering or rubbing, specially if I dont drive the car that rough. I scheduled an appointment for monday and they will check it out. Thanks everyone, I will have them take the wheels off and see if theres any damages.

And agan the funny thing about this issue is that ive had these coilovers the way they are for about a month or so and never experienced anything like it. We will see...
