Default Finally!

Finally! I don't have to feel like a damn bobble head doll anymore driving down the freeway! Not sure if any of you are from the Bay Area but going Southbound on Hwy 101 around Redwood City definitly gives me headaches!!! I feel kinda embarrased bouncing around like that with my Z. I feel like I'm riding on a horse instead of a car Anyways, if the Konis can fix this problem, I'm 100% in!!! BJ, I am also very interested in any package deals you guys may have w/ the bushings and swaybars. Please let me know and I'm there!!!

I was seriously considering the Koni's but after upgrading my tires from 225/45/18 and 245/45/18 to 245/40/18 and 275/40/18, it made a significant improvement on how the car rides.. I also have Eibach springs, but with the wider tires, the ride has been much much better! You can tell right away, a quick test is to go over the lane divider bumps, it has more "cushion" feel. If you guys can upgrade tire sizes, I would recommend doing that first.. of course, you need a wider rims than factory..

just my 2 cent.

I'm still on the fence. I want to remove the highway bounce, but not if they overly soften the track performance. It appears that they are more set up for autocross performance than road coarse performance. Time will tell. Still leaning towards just the rears, as if the Koni's soften the front compression, I'm not interested.

I was also considering the Eibachs but I've heard they are now getting cambering issues. Are you experiencing that sort of thing with your setup? Also, for those who just want to fix the bounce, buying new rims and tires may not be an option since it will require more $$$$ to juice out I was also thinking of coilovers but I really want to see how much a Koni package (bushings + sways) would be first. I'm more of an everyday driver then a track person so this set-up looks good for my needs. I want to see more feedback on this first though before I jump in.

Many of us don't want to spend more $ on bigger rims. I happen to like my Track Rays. Some don't want to drop the car with different springs as the car is already pretty low. Plus the Eibachs are progressive springs as are the Nismo S-Tune more geared to ride comfort. The stock springs are linear which are normally designed more for performance. Those who autox in the stock class can't change the springs anyway. I am hoping Koni optimizes the shock settings based on BJ's recommendations and gets them into production ASAP.

right. that's why if you do upgrade your tires/rims, you will notice improvements on ride quality. Not sure how it is on 19's though. I have the rear camber kit with my Eibach, so it does help to bring back the rear camber back to acceptable spec... I am sure Koni will help tremendously compare with oem shocks, that's why the are, especially they are adjustable...

Yeah, I like the idea of the konis. This should be a problem that is corrected by nissan though. For that amount of money, a coilover kit should definitely be considered.

NNA will say they just improved the car with the Euro suspension. There is no problem. I know BJ & Carter Thompson both experienced racers would disagree with them.

Well, this is a problem I feel like going to my dealership and complaining about. I know they can't do anything, but that is where it should be corrected. Just seems like something that should be fixed under warranty. Oh well, guess we will have to spend our aftermarket money to fix it, but that still sucks. Maybe I should go to the dealership and see what they say.

Nissan should upgrade everyone with the old suspension that wants it. There is no excuse for this on this car.

I'm not to happy about the upgrade on the master cylinder for the brembos either.

These are 2 major systems upgraded in the second year of production. If this stuff was important enough for Nissan to change right away, then that tells me there was a problem with it in the first place.

Every car company since the beginning of time has changed their products with mid-yearly and yearly changes.

You are crazy to think that they will swap out any `03 with `04 products (barring any recall or saftey concerns) because you think they should...

I know they aren't going to do it ....but come on.... There was no reason for Nissan not to correct the suspension bounce before the first production cars came off the assembly line.

Are YOU satisfied that you have to spend another $700 to correct a problem that should have been ironed out before production?

I agree 100%

That is why I purposely waited for a 2004 car. I am not saying that there still wont be problems with the `04 car, just I have always heard "never buy a first year model of any car" so many times. not to mention of hearing about the feathering problems etc.

No, I'm not. I am used to upgrading my cars after 30,000 miles, not needing to upgrade immediately. I feel reasonably confident the Konis, a premium part, will be better than what I have now AND what will come w/the upgraded stock suspension. I deeply resent being FORCED to replace what should have been a decent factory part that would be good enough to last for 30,000 miles.

I've just installed G35 coupe struts on my z to improve the ride. But after you guys put the konis on and comment on them I'll weigh the evidence and change if it will better serve my needs.
Now the G35 are giving me a good ride and the handling at the speeds I drive is still very good.
