i can tell you that they are NOT regular o-rings. they are called quad rings and they have a square cross section whereas a normal o-ring would be circular. you also need to make sure that they are made of a material that can resist deterioration from the brake fluid. i have been told that Viton quad rings will work, but you need to try and find some that are the exact same size as the ones that came out of your calipers, which can prove to be a very difficult task.

^ are you absolutely positive on the square part? The rebuilder said they were circular and now appear flat, but they were a rounded edge O-ring prior to flattening...

Your re-builder is correct.

Edit: What makes it hard measuring the inside diameter and the o-ring thickness.

I did not have issues after I rebuilt the z32 calipers. They did not leak.
I used a micrometer to measure the groove in the caliper and ordered rings that were safe to be used with brake fluid.

maybe the Brembos are different than the Z32 calipers, but i know for a fact the Z32's are quad rings and not regular o-rings.

When I had my rear brembos powdercoated, I read horror stories of people losing the o-ring, and having a really hard time finding replacements. I don't remember them being square shaped with the cross section, they looked like regular O-rings to me. I reused the old ones, and never had any problems. Good luck with your search.

i guess just the Z32 calipers are quad rings then. if the Brembos are just regular o-rings then you should be able to easily find some that will work for you.

I took apart the Brembo's on my EVO this winter had them chemically stripped and powdercoated. Had the same problem with the o-rings. Go to www.mcmaster.com and look for Viton O-rings like others have aid. Take the measurements off of your old ones as reference. They will work. Other tips is definitely get the calipers chemically stripped of the old powder coat due to blasting risks the chance of getting grit in the fluid passageways also I bungled up one of the cross over tubes in disassembly and ended up making new ones out of stainless tubing with new fittings the benefit was less possibility of corrosion. Don't forget to polish the OD of the pistons while you have them out and mark the caliper halves with punch marks so you dont mix them up during assembly.

fwiw, I don't remember if its Subaru or Mitsubishi, but one of them have the oem rebuild kit with the new o ring included. I have powdercoated over 3000 sets of calipers in the last 10 years and its no big deal to break them in half. I do it all the time.
