My left side makes machine gun firing clunking noise on rough roads. It's been making the noise for couple of months. The noise is there everyday- over bumps, dips, rough road, and when changing lanes on freeway.
Does anyone have this problem too?
I talked to the SPL guy. He said they've been working on the noise (because the compression arm moves freely, it maybe the arms making contact with something.) and they'll have the solution this month or next month. I'm not sure if we are talking about the same noise though because only left side is making the clunking noise.
I tried tightening all the under brace bolts once in couple of weeks. IIRC, everytime i did some nuts/bolts were loosened. Not much but out of torque spec. Still no change in the noise
Chime in please
EDIT: not to mention, the clunking noise sounds like coming from something is loose. I doubt anything is actually loose..hope not.

Thats because you dont have it on there right. Its binding up and unloading. You need to center the rod end so its not touching either end, then tighten down the collar so it cant move side to side..and the sound will go away. If you look under there you are actually damaging it.

Look under where in order to find the damaging area?
thanks
Do you have both LCA and compression arm bushings ? Its not the compression arm doing most of the clunking, its the LCA. The cause is the swaybar, the clunking goes away a lot if you get adjustable endlinks and take any preload off the bar.

I have the same noise after the rod bushing install. I also have the LCA bushings which make a faint clicking sound.
Surprisingly enough, I bought the SPL rod bushings to stop that "binding" sound that I had with my stock, torn-up, bushings. I would imagine the sound is the arm flexing and hitting one or both of the cone bushings supplied by SPL. I think I may take a closer look when I get under the car this weekend.

Well, I didn't see this thread before installing my SPL compression rod bushings last night.
I have zero noise at the moment. I've driven it about 50 miles since installing it.
So...unless something is wearing out, I shouldn't get any noise later. Keep y'all posted if I get any noise later on.

I did not. But I have every other SPL spherical bearings, upper control arms, Hotchkis sway bars already installed for a long time so I've gotten used to the harsher ride.
Yes, but my old compression arm bushing were wasted. I also changed from Whiteline to SPL LCA bushings are the same time. To much change at once to know what made the feel so much better.
