Default Caliper Bracket Bolts

Hey guys, I'm trying to replace my brake pads and rotors currently and have run into an issue. I'm doing the front right side right now, I have the pads out and now I have to remove the 22m bolts. I've Wd-40'd the hell out of them and have been banging the hell out of the socket wrench with both a metal and a rubber mallet and it hasn't seemed to budge. Anyone have any pointers for this? I'm hitting it down and to the right (clockwise) as I face into the wheel well obviously and don't believe these are reverse threaded.. Anyways everywhere I looked simply said that they were a ***** to get off and be careful but no real methods that helped. Anyone have any ideas? Help would be appreciated!

Penetrant oil overnight. Banging wont do it, but a medium pipe over the rachet or 1/2 flex handle will do it.

The service manual says to use a power tool. I assume they mean an impact wrench.

Definitely do have an impact gun :/ and have never heard of penetrant oil. Will check it out though, I've had the bolts marinating in wd40 so hopefully that might alleviate the problem so I don't have to take any other measures. Thanks for the replies though!

22mm wrench , use the box end side and bang it with a 5 pound sledge.

Wd-40 is not a very good penetrating oil. PB-blaster is the best there is, is say 30 mins soak will do it.

1/2" breaker bar with a pipe for more leverage will do it.

Exactly what we did. It worked but was the most difficult I've seen (I'm a noob mechanic clearly). I broke a pvc pipe (whatever the black one is it wasn't white) so we had to go out and bought a metal one and that did the trick with me kicking my weight into it.

Did WD-40 loosen it up or you ended up with PB Blaster?

Always a good idea to have a good 3' metal pipe for leverage, as well as a 3' 2X4.

Be sure to use a 6point socket when you plan to use a mallet.

Sorry for the late replies. I did have a 6 point socket on with the mallet as that felt the most stable to me. Also we sprayed the crap out of the bolts with both WD40 and PB Blaster. I don't feel like either loosened it or help much to be honest. With the bolts on the right I had the pipe kind of under the front bumper and I just about kicked my entire weight onto the pipe. The left side it was under the bumper again but I was able to get my left hand on the ground and rip up with my right hand. Crap was a pain but good experience for me nonetheless!

I know i might be too late, but I had a similar problem with my s2000 when I had it. And I tried everything you can imagine, I ended up using a large monkey wrench on the bucket and a steel bar for leverage and it finally came loose.

I found it helped if i turned the wheel towards the outside, so you could get easier access to the bolt, and even with a 1/2" drive breaker bar it was a *****. Torque spec is 130-140 lb pounds fyi o.o
