Once again i am in need of expert advice. I have to replace my brakes and rotor's for the front and rear. Factory brakes are brembo , but now that i am getting new brakes, i am wondering if i can put better brakes such as 6 piston brembo's instead of 4 cuz i think factory one's are only 4piston. So i am sure some of your guys must have tried it, so please share your opinions and help me point in the right direction.

What do you plan on doing with your z.

 

short term plan is to just use it for tracks and long term goal is to have force induction.

Brembos are fine IMO, just get 2pc rotors and carbotech pads. Unless you can afford to buy a bbk or track the s**t out of your z.

Big brakes make the car so much more fun. Control is everything.
Spend all you want on quality components and you won't regret it.

 

The correct tire/brake combo makes all the difference. You can be on 6 piston stoptechs on warn tires and just normal street pads and you won't be stopping that good.

 

I appreciate everyone's contribution for there opinions, i completely agree that combo of break and tires is prolly one of the most important performance feature.

i have pirelli pzero's for rear tires, i however can't go with bbk's just yet cuz of ovious reasons which is money or now commonly refered as "mulla" lol.

So all i can do is replace the rotor's and pads. Factory was good enough but i noticed that high speeds brakes were still a little weak, so is there a way i can improve that without going bbk's?

I love them when they are fully warmed up
And they don't fade on the track unless you are rapping them super hard but I haven't experienced peddle to the floor yet and I ride my brakes a lot on track

 

you just can't add pistons to stock brembos..

 

So why do you need a BBK ? Why do you think a 6 piston kit will be better for your application? What are the future goals for the driver?

 

its not like i need BBk but it be nice to have bigger brakes, as they give you more control. Stock brembo's are doing fine but why i was looking for BBK's or even6 piston just cuz i was going to replace the pads and rotor's so though if not much extra why not get bigger breaks like the GTR brembo's (just a dream) lol. future application is mainly track and since i am gonna be getting force induction in the future so i would eventually get BBK's.

also another question, i have is regarding SS brake lines? do they help? cuz some say they do and some say factory ones are good enough

I have STOPTECH SS lines, they make it feel a little better but nothing extreme, its mainly so you have the same peddle feel from the beginning of the track session until the end.

 

i know what you mean, but i previously didn't have brembo's and after having brembo's its like addiction, so i want to improve brakes more and more. I will only replace the pads and rotor's now that i have looked into this option deeper thanks to all the people that shared there opinion and gave suggestions.

Thats what most of people that i know have SS lines said, that it mainly just improves the feel, reason why i wanted to ask people on the forum was because some of the SS line manufactures such as STOPTECH say that it reduces the braking distance. and i wasn't sure if it actually did that.

 

They don't give you more control at all, they just help with heat when you run the car on a roadcourse.

 

I think its funny when people say that make you stop faster, then you ask what tires and pads their on and they say like autozone pads and bald all seasons but they "feel" like they are stopping faster. I also think its funny when people dont believe someone when they say BBKs help with fade.

 

The stock Brembos are excellent with slotted rotors and good pads. Carbotech, Hawk, Project Mu, are all great (as well as others). Don't forget that your brakes are only as good as your tires... Locking the tires up is the last thing you want to do. Just about every car I've driven with a BBK had way too much braking force for the tires, and a BBK on the street is not necessary at all.

We carry a whole bunch of pads and rotors for the Z, with or without Brembos. We've also got all the top BBKs.
