Question Brake Pad Longevity ...

I only have 9200 miles on my Enthusiast, and already it feels like I'm hitting rotor in the fronts. About 70% of those miles were done on the freeway.

What kind of longevity are people getting from their stock brake pads? Are there any pads I buy that will last longer?

I got about 25,000 miles with mine. I downshift whenever possible for engine breaking.

HPS Hawks were my replacement choice. They're cheaper, perform as well and don't dust anything like stock. I wont know if they will last longer until I get 50k mi.

Replaced OEM with Hawk HPS at 17K. Perform better than OEM and VERY LITTLE DUST. $56 + $9 S/H at raceshopper.com.

My Hawk HP+ squeal like crazy. I'm currently looking for some pads to run just on the street. The Hawks perform well, I just get REALLY annoyed at the squeal when I'm stopping.

My Hawk HPS don't squeak. Just follow the "bedding" instructions that come with the pads.

I took my car to the dealer today. Come to find out, its not my brake pads at all. They say the noise I am hearing is probably coming from the fact that the inside of the tires are starting to flare. I thought this problem was fixed in the '04 model. The dealers solution to the problem was that I should take the car to a tire shop and have the front tires dismounted, rotated and re-mounted.

Anyway ... im starting another thread on this problem.

HP+ are supposed to squeal, they even say so on Hawk Performance's website. They are a more track oriented pad.

I had my front brakes changed under warranty at 10,300 mi.(non brembo). Wonder if I'll have to change brakes every 10k or so. The Z brakes are squeaky as hell. I've had mine sanded or whatever they do to deglaze the rotors. I have heard the compound is soft(which explains excess dust) and new pads have come out. Has anyone tried the non-brembo Nismo pads?

I just changed the front pads on my track model after 25,000 miles of average to aggressive driving. Front brembo pads are only $69.99 not to bad imo....

I would look for a different dealership as the wheels are not the same size and should not be rotated.

Given that the last post was in 04, I was curious when the original post was. Its a shame you can't read post dates

Shame you feel that you have to be the date police.
