Default Anyone used racepads to remove brake vibrations?

Hi guys.

Has anyone done this and got successful results? I read somewhere that using Hawk Blue 9012 is "the most" effective at removing the uneven pad deposits. Will other racepads work just as good? Thing is if it does, I might as well keep a set for track days.

Here's a little background:
My previous rotors spent half of their lifetime being grounded down due to uneven pad deposits that kept on recurring every frikking thousand miles. I follow Stoptech's bed-in procedure but for some messed up reason, it doesn't work most of the time based my experience. (I'm thinking their bed-in procedure maybe too aggressive on the street pads.)

Now I've got new Stoptech's 2pc floating Aerorotors, with Stoptech Street Performance pads. I bedded them in as soon as I got them and followed their manual as carefully as possible. 1k miles later... voila! Here comes rotor judder. WTF.

I sent Stoptech tech support an email but never got a reply.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to your advise guys.

tia!

Aftermarket brake discs (Centric) are very good and cheap. I would simply replace em.

If they are thick enough, pay a shop the $20-25 per rotor to resurface them.

If you use the street performance pads you can remove the deposits and remedy the vibration by using the HP Plus pads for a week of normal driving. No need to use the 9012

every pad will leave a new deposit and need to remove it with bedding . If i get a bad vide, couple light lathe passes and done.

make sure you get someone on a lathe you can trust. Autozone, checker , etc etc will make a huge pass and cut them down to the minimun. The will think next time you will buy new rotors from them.

The EBC pads come with a very aggressive abrasive layer (looks like carborundum) to clean your old rotors during the bed-in process. I've been using their red pads for years on all my cars, and have always loved them, and that coating is just a nice bonus. Maybe try a set of those?

i totally forgot about this thread. Thanks a lot for all your responses.

I did a some more research with regards to bedding in brake pads.

Stoptech says go hard:
http://zeckhausen.com/bedding_in_brakes.htm

Ferrodo says go easy on the first few 200kms. This is somewhat similar to Hawk's instruction, only difference is they tell you to do only a couple of hard stops.
http://legacy.ferodo.co.uk/ferodo_we...ent.aspx?id=16

wtf?

I know these are all diff pad companies but then I know their street pads still work within the same temp. ranges, being in the street pad category.

How do you guys usually bed in your brakes? I tried Stoptech's recommendation a couple of times but i always get vibes after a few thousand km's of driving. On the next set of pads, I followed Hawk's method on my stoptech pads/ rotors and never faced any juddering issues until I accidentally imprinted my front pads onto my rotors during my last AutoX event.

I've used Hawk DTC-70s to clean rotors.. just regular/light street use for .. i don't know how many miles.. I guess it depends on your driving, traffic, etc.. eventually you will be hearing very load annoying screeching when braknig.. this means your rotors are about cleaned.. lol

It did seem to help with the vibrations.

I just bed mine during the first session of a track day now, keep the race pads on during my street driving.. too much hassle switching back and fourth, cleaning, etc.. when the next track day is a couple weeks away.

I have since moved away from the DTC-70s, to Pagid RS-19 pads.. and have run into issues with vibrations.. which is kind of surprising since I don't switch any longer. Trying to figure out how I am not applying a solid amount of pad to the rotors..

I forgot to mention that I also tried something new recently called a flex-hone tool. My vibration issue seemed to improve after using it to clean the surface of the rotors..

I have used this one personally to remove the Akebono ceramic pad deposits and switch to Stoptech Street Performance pads.

Works great with the rear, just put it in 2nd gear and let the car idle while you work the tool. Front is fun, employ a friend you want to punish and put a pvc pipe over a wheel stud.

Have them turn the hub while you push into the rotor with the hone / drill. You will have a beautiful crosshatch pattern ready for pad bedding and they while have very sore arms.

How are you getting to the back side of the rotor?
