I plan on getting some wheels for my Z and was just curious if putting some cheap cross drilled and slotted rotors would be a good idea as I think they improve the look of the car quite a bit for only at a cost of $200.

If anyone knows any better quality product for around the same price or has at least purchased these rotors or ones of a similar type and price could please give me a little bit of insight about these. Your help would be much appreciated.

 

Better put your flame suit on. Cheap brakes is not a good combination in the same sentence. I would never get cheap brakes for the car, especially for the aesthetics.

You really need to read up on this issue. There are plenty of threads in this section about what's good and what's not. I suggest you also look at what the vendors are selling and what the members are buying or selling in the marketplace.

I would still be keeping my stock calipers. I didn't think it would hurt to replace my ugly rotors with some shiny silver rotors that are cross drilled and slotted. At this point I thought anything would be or perform better than the stock rotors.

 

just get the shiny silver rotors and post pics when done

 

I have purchased cheaper rotors than those on ebay with the same design for my brembos and they performed and lasted really well.

 

I have ran 10+ track days on NAPA blanks using Carbotech XP10/8 pads.....then again they don't have holes in them that create weak points in the rotor.

Cheap rotors are fine, poorly designed rotors are not.

 

My car is my daily driver and it will probably never see the track. The only hard driving I really do is spirited driving every here and there.

None of that matters, why would you buy a rotor that has weak points because of random holes drilled in them? Go buy some parts store blank rotors and stop worry about how your rotors look and just let them do their job, which is stopping your car, not looking cool.

cheap bad quality rotors = expensive mess, stuff like that you don't want to cheap out on, we have plenty of items for your needs that are good quality and at an affordable price. Drilled rotors do nothing but crack, if your car is for daily driving, you don't need slots, a centric premium will do good for you, good quality, painted hat, and painted veins to cut down on rust.

I love all the cheap rotor comments. Most of the rotors out there are made by the SAME company and are only available in two grades. G3000 is what it is no matter who's name is on the end product or how much you paid for it.

 

Maybe true, but the half-@ssed drilling is what f's them up.

 

I can certainly agree with that. I think its safe to say that most people would be perfectly fine with D/S rotors but I wouldn't recommend them. Some people are just blindly interested in how something looks vs how it performs.

 

Brembo blanks would be good. We also have vendors on the site that sell brake rotors!

 

I use the R1 "premium" drilled & slotted and they are fine. I AutoX with them.
Their cheap ceramic pads are NOT fine. Complete garbage that melted down to the wear indicators in a few laps. Don't buy those.
