Chroming OEM strut bar
since i'm changing my engine bay a little bit i thought it might be a good time to change the apperance of the strut bar. first i thought about polishing it, until i realiced that the hole thing is made out of steel (so it will most def. rust over the time). is it possible to chrome the complete strut bar? or should i just get it powdercoated?
i would really love to get an aftermarket unit, but since i already have a clearance issue with my hood already, i really don't want to waste some money on strut bars which won't fit.

Chrome would look good but it is expensive.
Clearance issue? Some aftermarket bars are designed to give more clearance.
Check the chrome price. It'll prolly be cheaper to go with a aftermarket that clears your hood.

I have cusco strut bar. I have slightly more clearance than my stock bar.
It compliments my polished plenum
Powder coat or chrome will add a slight layer of material making your current clearance problem worse

you would polish a plenum. Its more of a polished brushed finish. It is a
work of art though.Has a neat master cylinder damper feature.
A bit pricey for most guys though at almost 500 bucks.
Any good painter could give it a chrome or "Super black coat" finish without you having to actually chrome it.
If you are set on keeping the OEM that is what I would do with it since really the aftermarket bars are just for aesthetics

Just strip the OEM paint and have it polished. Or if you're really into the chrome look, order:

think i'll get everything painted....seems to be the easiest way to go. btw not sure if chroming is possible since Nissan used some sort of foam on the inside of the strut tube!?!?!? not sure if it won't react with the chemicals of the chroming process...guess powdercoating is also no option since u use heat.
