I searched and found a couple of threads on checking brake pad thickness, however they only got me so far due to my limited mechanical knowledge.(https://my350z.com/forum/brakes-and-...thickness.html;https://my350z.com/forum/brakes-and-...-pad-wear.html).
I picked up a telescoping mirror so that I could check the brake pads without taking the wheels off, but it turns out I don't even know how to check them with the wheel off. In this photo, can someone please tell me where to look for the brake pad thickness? Or am I looking at the wrong part of the caliper? Thanks!

Monoblock calipers like the Brembos were designed for quick pad changes during races. It's not very difficult to check pad thickness by simply pulling the pads. New pads are 15 mm thick and if you're running them so thin that you risk damage to the rotors, it makes little sense.
