Default Upgrade : 2-Piece rotor for my Brembos or Akebono upgrade with 1 piece rotor ?

Hey guys,

I have to replace my front rotors pretty soon (2-piece rotors that are quite old and not manufactured anymore), and I hesitate between getting the Z1 2-Piece rotors for my Brembo calipers (+ new pads, around 800-900€ for everything since i'm in Europe and shipping is 150€), or upgrade to the Akebono FRONT calipers with 1-piece rotors such as Stoptech... and pads (don't know which ones ?).
In the end, the price is almost the same, as I will be able to resell my Brembo calipers, but I am not even sure that this would be an upgrade compared to my 2-piece current setup (which I have not been able to test on track for now)..

What do you think ?

Are you certain you cannot find another rotor manufacturer whose two-piece rotor wouldn't fit your older model? As you know, two piece rotors are EXPENSIVE and need replacement rotor sections to make it economical. Otherwise, I'd suggest the rotors I use on my 350Z SCCA racecar: Centric high-carbon one piece rotors. relatively inexpensive, widely available and durable, they last for years and give you a chance to match up your older setup.

Thanks for your answer,
I am sadly certain that I can't find these rotors. They were made by brembo few years back (around 2012-2013) and they discontinued these a long time ago.
The Z1 2-piece rotors are quite economical (considering they are 2-piece rotors), but indeed your setup could be good for me, but is it also usable for daily use ? or could you give me the exact brand and model of your rotors so that I can check that

(On another note, I talked to a few local 70z nismo owners, who told me that the OEM 70z brakes are really great compared to the OEM 50z brakes, so I'm even more confused ..)

Interesting- if it's a Brembo product, it's surprising someone hasn't picked up the tooling and started producing blanks at some point. As for the 370Z Akebono brake package, I haven't heard many reports in my road racing circles that they are much of an actual improvement over the Brembos. Certainly not enough to get Z33 racers to pony up the money to retrofit them. As for the Centric high-carbon rotors, I also use them on my street Z, but with a street compound pad in my Brembos.

As for the exact brand and model, it's Centric (manufacturer) and High-carbon (model) one-piece rotor. Centric is a worldwide supplier of rotors so I would imagine you can obtain them in France as well. Is it cheaper and easier to import them from the States, than to buy them locally?

I understand that this isn't the biggest upgrade of the world, but actually I can get the 4 calipers + all OEM discs and pads for 800€, and I'll probably sell my calipers + current discs and pads for the same amount, so I think this is pretty interesting

Take precise measurements of the rotor discs and call brembo directly and a few other manufacturers (stoptech, centric, dba, etc.) to see if anyone has replacement disc in this size that will match your hat. You have to remember that many 2-piece rotor manufacturers use a standard size disc or a disc that is already available for other applications and then only manufacture specific hats that fit your car. This keeps costs of 2-piece rotors down. Of course this is not always possible, but for our cars it is likely, since if memory serves the brembo 324mm disc size was shared among a few different platforms, the only thing that changed is the disc offset, hub diameter, or bolt pattern, etc. All of those differences are in the brake hat, not in the rotor disc.
