final question. 2 hrs until auction is up....i have a base model...im planning on bidding on the z32 calipers on ebay here----->http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2468122333 and what else do i need to install it besides the obvious i.e pads lines...
xtra stuff such as larger rotors? bracket to raise the caliper to fit the rotor? quick quick quick! 2 hrs left! hheheh..thx

hey Z1 in the earlier posts, those were Z32 caliper, pads, and rotor? but the finished install looks like an AP kit? did u do the z32 conversion or AP kit upgrade? if u went w/ the Z32, it was a direct bolt-on yes? also what model Z do u have? cuz as far as i kno, the caliper i showed u on ebay is a 30mm aluminum caliper which uses 280mmX30mm rotor. the Z's base model to touring model uses a 297.18mmX24.13mm rotor. so if i were to directly bolt the Z32 caliper on, the Z32 caliper will be floatin up around 17mm and the width of the rotor will be around 6mm smaller. sounds confusing? i dunno, i just looked up the dimensions of the Z32 and Z33 model brakes and compared it. question is, if u went w/ the Z32 conversion did u encounter this prob? meaning direct bolt is no prob, but the rotor:caliper is off a little? sorry to trouble so much thx

Thats what I have said all along - I installed an AP brak ekit originally intended for 300 ZX (Z32) onto my 350Z. I ahve no idea what is needed to fit standard 300 zx calipers to a 350z, sorry

For mine? They are the CP5200 caliper, so has 2 x 38.1mm pistons and 2 x 41.3mm pistons.

dchi_t...I don't know that I would put those Z32 brakes on a Z33. They might fit, but would not perform as well as even the non-Brembo Z33 brakes, IMHO. I had a '94Z and the major weak point on that car was the brakes. Much fade after running them even moderately hard. If you look over at twinturbo.net, you'll see that many of those guys upgrade to something else. By the way, those calipers on ebay are the earlier alum. versions. Later (seems like it was '91) Nissan changed them to iron I believe.

But he installed AP brake kit for Z32 on his Z33, and they fit. Not stock Z32 brakes on his Z33. And that sound like a marvelous idea.

Note to self:
Must search ebay.

I was referring to dcht_t's post with the ebay link above. Those brakes in the link are definitely stock Z32 brakes.

did you ever find out an answer to this? I "heard" that the standard 350z brakes are a direct bolt on for the 240 (i forget the model and year) which a friend of mine has, which has 300zx calipers that also bolted right on. But thats unconfirmed.

This is a really good question. I've always wondered if this was a feasible conversion. Maybe one of our Breaking Systems "Professionals" can chime on with the anwser to the question.

I always wanted to know this too. Beats our one big piston, plus the "Nissan" on the caliper looks pretty substantial.

I don't believe it would be feasible from what I've heard. many 240 guys love to use 300zx brakes b/c they're a cheap, easy fit and give them more than enough braking power for drifting. however many of them were interested in using 350z/G35 brakes on their cars as well, but found out that they needed to fabricate an adaptor plate to accomodate where caliper bolts up. I'm no expert, but to me that would likely mean that to fit 300zx brake on the 350z would also require some custom fabrication, which may not be cost effective when you could just buy a used brembo kit or something.

I just priced a set of used 1990-1996 300zx calipers at $225. Depending on how much it would cost to fab any required brakets it still sounds pretty cost effective to me.

I really don't know enough about brake system to attempt to mess with it thats why I was hoping that on of our braking systems gurus could chime in with some information.
I hate to say it but this might be the only time the guys from Stoptech might have some useful information. I really hated saying that.

would they really be that much better than the stockers? I mean I can see going to the oem brembos, but going to brakes from a car made 13 years ago?
