17K too early for front brakes?
I have a 2003 Performace, and I brought my car in yesterday for the new front tires recall. They told me my front brakes needed replacement, $275.00. I told them to do it, but now I am thinking, How could I need brakes with just over 17K on my car.
How many miles are you guys/girls getting on your front brakes?
Thanks!

Just front pads, they may have cut the rotors.
I live on LI in NY, everything is expensive here.
I was concerned that 17,000 seems early for front brakes.
No Brembos.

yeah but i think 275 is too much.. i replaced mine with hawk and it only cost me $75-80 for the pads and i just did it myself. maybe the pad will cost you $75 and the labor $200

hawk hp pads $56
midas install $75
beating the $185 price quoted by dealer for dusty breakes. priceless.
i tried to do it myself. couldn't midas did it for 75 and they cleaned the rotors and calipers. i am cool with that.
oh mine lasted 20 k. and i had 1/4 left. but they stared squeaking bad.

I blew through my REARS at about 17k. I swapped my fronts at 12k (but the stockers weren't done yet).
Pads are an incredibly easy DIY. Full set of hawk HPS pads is only 104 from raceshopper.
As long as you have jack stands ($15) and wrenches, you can do it.

17k doesnt seem too bad.i hit those squeeker tabs at 15k but i do a lot of drag racing.
the cost is another story. $40 bucks in lifetime pads (helped a lot with the brake dust too). about 30-45 minutes per side. should of done it yourself.

That $275 is most likely to put new pads and resurface the rotor which wouldnt be that bad of a price, but if they didnt resurface the rotor thats extremely expensive. When you go pick it up ask them if the resurface the rotor also

Dust way too much? Are you kidding me? The dust is barely present compared to OEM.
This was my wheel after 4 WEEKS of not washing it while I had the hawks on. This would be the stock pads after about 5 days.
