Default resistance/clicking sound from clutch

I am thinking about becoming a 350Z owner and my husband and I have looking around. We are looking at a '03 touring model 30K miles for $22K.
The car is perfect except that when the clutch pedal is depressed there is slight resistance felt about half way down and noticeable "click". Other Z's we looked at did not have this so I know it's not "normal" as dealers love to tell you. This Z was purchased at auction by a Portsmouth, NH dealer.

I'm extra cautious becuz, thanks to carfax, another Z I looked at had a salvage title due to a flood someplace in NY.

I am reluctant to buy the car "as is" even though there is some warranty left.
Any one familiar with this and any suggestions?

I need to blow away my husband's Cobra asap!
