You are the lucky one...
Calgary don't have to pay PST plus Calgary gas price is much cheaper than Vancouver's
20.1 tax comes from 14% usual GST,PST + 6.1% duty
so for importing, it'll cost you 20.1% tax + $110 air conditioning tax + $190 vehicle inspection cost you pay at the boarder + $50~200 another vehicle inspection cost you pay later to register it in the province(in bc, dont' know about alberta) + alpha for modification to fit to Canadian standard..

p.s. I'm really pissed off about all the tax issue... cause I just got a letter saying I have to pay $1600 more for property title transfer tax for property I bought and paid in full all the tax last year because property value went up... I call that bulls#it.. oh and last paycheque I received was 1800... i mean $1120 after $680 deduction! Hopefully in coming April, they don't ask me $2000 more for income tax like they did last year... oh well.. at least I'm not making $100,000 a year and pay %56 income tax... sorry about the all whining.. but that proprty title transfer tax really screwed up my budget plan

In case you are relocating back to Canada from the US, you would not have to pay GST or Duty on the vehicle youre bringing with you. A few other restrictions do apply.

Now just have to find someone who is repatriating...

http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/E/pub/cp/.../rc4140-e.html
shows your restrictions on that...

You can import a vehicle from the United States without entering it into the RIV Program if the vehicle is:

former residents of Canada returning to live in Canada, bringing
back the same vehicle they exported; or entering Canada temporarily.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Vehicles imported temporarily under one of these conditions cannot be sold or otherwise disposed of while in Canada

in another word.. there's no way around it w/o paying tax or duty..
