Default Leased you 350Z?..check the dealers numbers!

Hi all, as a soon to be Z owner, Id like to say this is by far the best and most knowledgable Z forum i have found so far. Everyone on here has been real quick to respond to my questions, as well as showing great talent and enthusiam for the one thing we all have in common...a 350Z.

but enough with the pleasantries, i wanted to share this Excel worksheet that i found online while I was still shopping for a Z, that literally saved me hundreds if not thousands on my lease, as well as making me an informed shopper when I walked into the dealer.

this is only for LEASE programs.

It inputs several key factors from the lease deal that dealer is offering you..such as Money Factor, Term of Lease, Sales Tax in your state, Negotiated price of car, Residual value of car..just to name a few.

And what it does, is break it all down for you, with the bottom line being what your payment SHOULD be according to the Federal Consumer Leasing Act Disclosure Form(Regulation M). This number should ofcourse be EXACTLY what the dealer says your payment is, to the pennies!

IF its not, have the dealer check their number, because they are stealing from you somewhere along the line!!

I personally took this excel file on my laptop with me to the dealer, and once i sat down with financing i starting plugging in numbers, and the look on the finance guy's face was priceless!! his jaw just dropped and asked where I got this form from, and never questioned it accuracy. Lets just say that his initial numbers put me at $513/month (with taxes)...and the deal was finalized at $453.16(including taxes), for an 06 enthusiast, aero, kick plates, cargo conv pkg, splsh guards, and mats.

Hope this helps everyone...and FYI, im NOT taking credit for making this excel file..im just sharing my buying experience with you all.

The reason I ask is I would like to put that number in 'Nissan's lease calculator to see how it compares. Currently a 31,000 OTD 2006 will go for 467 a month with a grand down according to the Nissan calc.

Its very difficult to base any of your expectations/calculation by Nissans calc..reason?

what bank are they basing their money factor on? Probably NMAC

money factor, acquisition cost, disposition, residual, are all factors that are unique to each lender, and will greatly affect your lease payment. again ,these fees vary greatly from lender to lender. Then theres your credit rating, different beacon scores qualify for different programs within the same lender. how does nissan's calc compensate for this?? it doesn't.

leasing is very different from buying, i was just hoping to give everyone the heads up on what tricks the dealer will have in store for you when you consider leasing you Z, or any car for that matter.

the truth is, no one knows what program they will qualify for, UNTIL they fill out that credit app and go into financing at the dealer. This excel sheet will help you make sure the dealer didnt inflate your program just to squeeze more money out of you.

FYI, i leased my Z for 27,032, 42 months, with a 45% residual, 550 acqusition, 450 dealer fees, tag/title, $2052 of negative equity from my trade-in (02 altima), and a .00204 ( that a 4.86% interest rate), and im paying $471 a month. $3000 due at signing. this was through wells fargo, NOT nmac.

the dealers initial offer was $3500 due at signing, paying $509/mnth..needless to say when i pulled out my laptop and started crunching away the look on his face was priceless.

i feel it was a good deal especially since i had all the negative equity. but the Z is worh every penny IMHO.

So to clarify. The car was 27032 which included the 2052 off due to the trade in? so it was actually 29084 if you don't include the car correct? the 3000 due at signing was actually the 2 fees and the trade in correct? Did you get out of the security deposit? if so, was it tough? Looks like your numbers closely match what the nissan calc shows for 27032 minus the security deposit. See pic below.
Sorry, just trying to get this straight in my head as I will be doing this in February with an 07.

$499 including taxes for 65 month lease....does that sound crazy? For an 06' Enthusiast. $0 down. No trade in. $34,140 Capitalized cost. I dont know crap about all this. $8756.55 residual value.

that is a high price for an enthusiest, thats more like a touring price. That monthly price does seem high for such a long lease.

really? damn it, I knew it! Im gonna go ***** at the sales man now. I dont understand how it went up to $34k, if we initially had agreed on the cars price being $27,900. Just goes to show you that Im a rookie buyer. But I love my Z!
