Angry Got hosed on my 03 Z

Well, Let me start of by saying I am new to the site and have enjoyed catching up on my Z knowledge. I purchased a 2003 Z enthusiast from a dealer in TN a couple weeks ago. We set up a deal for $17,500 with a 97 blazer as a trade in for $3500. The deal was to include tax, title, etc. After waiting 3 hours for the finance guy to come in I signed the papers and all was done. The wait wasn't so bad since I was excited about my new Z and they even went to fill it up with gas for me. I did not pay attention to what I was signing when I signed the contract.Let me say that this is totally my fault because I did not read the contract over enough. I finance the car for $21,500 which is way over the price we agreed on off $17,500. I am sure there is nothing I can do now about it. I called the dealership and talked to my salesman and the head man that made the deal, of course they remembered the deal not including that they were to pay the tax title, etc. I am pretty pissed about the whole thing so I am cancelling the $1,700 I paid on it for the 5 year/100,000 mile warranty. I got screwed so please be careful if you are a rookie at car buying. Be sure to read all the fine print .

That's too bad. Just put it behind you and enjoy the car, don't hate it because of this. Mine's been fantastic.

Fine print????? It is the most obvious figure you should be looking at

Edit: And why do you think you should not pay taxes???

Oof... check into your states right to recision laws.. maybe that'll help them remember the deal.

Nonetheless... enjoy your Z and lesson learned.

TO brick Z- Of course I should pay taxes but not when they should have been included. The fine print is the 600 worth of fees I paid. You are one of the smart ones I guess. Thanks for the symptahy.

After I ditch the warranty I will be better at around $19,000 which is not bad for a Z, just not what I expected to pay. I wrote this so that I could possibly save this from happening to someone else. Oh, and by the way-I won't name any names but watch out for CarLock Nissan in Jackson, Tn.

No sympathy for someone old enough to sign a legal contract and not even look at the bottom line.

Some states work this way:

New vehicle
Plus tax
Less trade-in
= balance

Buying a vehicle and anxiety go hand-and-hand. Remember that you can always take the paperwork home, and look it over before signing.

The recision process is only 3 days in Tn. Wish I would have known before. The way the financier explained it to me was that the price on the bottom line was what I would pay with interest included. The sympathy thing also wasn't intended for you Brick Z so get the hell out of my threads. Anyone is capable of mistakes and I assure you I make more than enough not to worry too much about this or your ****ty comments.

When I bought my 06, I went over the paperwork about 5 times thoroughly before signing anything. Dealers are notorious for adding fees on you or not honoring what they said they would do. Once you have signed it though, that is the deal.

You do need to check things over, but ethics and dealerships do not go together.

I assume you at least looked at the monthly payment. Even if you glossed over everything else, that should tip you off a bit.

When i bought my car back in Nov. 06, I took some advice that I read here somewhere. You are buying the car so don't rush. Take as much time as you want. You are going to leave with it so take your time and go over everything on every paper to make sure its ok with you before you sign. Maybe even get out a calculator and figure everything out to make sure it evens out to what is on the papers as final price. I sat down for quite some looking at all my paperwork and to no suprise they were about to try to bend me over with no lube. After my down payment, I was loaning right over 23,000. Well I get down to the bottom of the contract and what does it say? In the slot titled "amount borrowed", total of just over $31,000. I was like WTF. He said "no thats right". I told him no way can the amount borrowed be more than the total price of the car, especially after I gave you my down payment. So needless to say he fixed it. What an a$$.

Yeah I still don't want to believe it happened to me but oh well

I feel better now though. The guy at Nissan hit the offensive when I told him I was coming in to cancel the warranty contract. He told me he didn't care if I did or not but it wouldn't lower my payment. I was like yeah that's how you make commisions is by selling those warranties but you still don't care. I am going back to the dealership Saturday even though its 250 miles away and I may raise a little hell while I am there. May even make an in store announcement that they ripped me off to any customer I see. They would like thAT.

It sucks that you feel like you've been ripped off and maybe you have...maybe you haven't but at least you've learned a valuable lesson.

Whenever negotiating the price you really should use the term "out the door" price as this includes all dealer prep fees, taxes, document fees, title and tags, etc. etc. Some dealers will negotiate these fees while others won't. $600 in fees (excluding tax) seems a bit excessive but not by much.

The other thing to look at on your contract is the total cost of the loan which includes the interest you pay. You can always negotiate the % rate.

Good luck next time.

Most dealers won't give you an out-the-door price, but will lead you to think that's what's being talked about. Whenever you agree on a "final" price, its probably not final. It won't include taxes, title/reg/license...the car salesmen don't have those figures. A lot of car salesmen...actually, its more the finance guys...are sneaky and deceitful.

My finance guy hated me because I wouldn't buy any extra warranties and he was acting like they were required. At the end he asked me if he reminded me of someone I didn't like from an earlier time in my life

So true about the finance guys. I've caught them trying to sneak in higher interest rates than what was agreed upon.

While on the subject, I just negotiated the purchase price of a mini van for our company. I went back and forth with them on the price. When the salesman finally called me with their "best" price I said "call me back with the out-the-door price". He called back a while later, told me what it was, and I said, "take $1,000 off that and we have a deal". He said he'd take it to the manager. Not 10 minutes later he calls me back and says "we'll meet you half way...$500 off". I said "deal".

I knew exactly what our out the door price would be before we had to show up to sign the paperwork.

Exactly the same thing almost happened to me. fokkers do that ALL the time on purpose. We agreed on an OTD price and they sneakily added tax on it. I signed the farking paper, but caught it before I lifted my *** up and made them rewrite the contract.

Great idea, except I'd recommend having a custom license plate frame made up and insist on spelling "overpaid" correctly.
