Possibly trading my Jeep for a 2003 Z
I did the numbers yesterday for trading in my Jeep for a 2003 enthusiast AUTO. They had already sold it to another dealer that morning but said they can get it back with a phone call. I was up all last night searching on here bc I am familiar with the forums from having my RSX-S before my Jeep. My question is this tranny problem exclusive to the 6MT? Also they said it needs new tires, what am I looking at to replace them?

what tranny problem are you referring to?
Local quotes I got for my 06 ran between $750, and $1300 per set, mounted & balanced, on my stock 18" wheels. I believe that the 03's have 17" wheels, so they'll probably be similar, maybe slightly lower.
Suggestion: Find a wholesale site online, and order from them. I got a set of Cooper all-season tires for about $550 shipped, and paid a local tire shop $60 to mount and balance. I ordered from http://www.tires-easy.com/ and it took 3 days to get the tires in. If you can find a local wholesale shop, even better, then you can get the tires same day.

I was referring to the whole people replacing their tranny multiple times in 03. It seems from the posts to be specific to the Mt so I didnt know if I would be safe with the 5AT. Thanks for the quick response!

Im used to paying a **** load for gas (93 in the RSX-S and the Jeep Wrangler at 14mpg). My only worry now is the tire issue. Parts were pretty high for the acura although I didnt have to get a whole lot done. Im gonna call the insurance company today to see how it is. My jeep is pretty high already.

Looks like round 700 for tires probably more. So I drove a 2004 today w/ 24K miles AT, guy said it was a touring but it didnt have leather which I thought was standard in the touring 5AT according to Nissanhelp.com. It wasnt in the best shape and the stealership wanted 24,500 for it. I liked the drive. Went to check the tires and they had put new coopers on it so I couldnt check tire wear to look for the feathering. Im going through Asheboro on the way to Winston-Salem tomorrow and thats the location of the dealer the local dealer said they sold the 2003 Z i originally wanted to trade for. This whole feathering issue as I said before is making me weary of an 03-04.

Im still lurking/researching. Im going back to look at one I found a few weeks ago this weekend. How long do you think it should take to get a car on the lot after trade-in. Theres sat in the back for two weeks? Concern relevant?

So I finally found what seems like the perfect car. Any thoughts on what I need to do before making it final tomorrow its an 04.5 (by the posted VIN) with only 7K miles. Im 2 hours from home so I dont have a mechanic I know here to look at it. It has so few miles Im worried that feathering/synchro probs may not have showed up yet. The car is really clean though doesnt have a scratch on it, was garaged etc. Is asking the service manager to check to see if TSB's were performed on the car (dont know how you say that) a reasonable thing to do?
