Default '07 Z, Could Buy Tomorrow, Need Opinions...

Hello Everyone...

I've been to a number of dealers and got a number of quotes, but I got what I think is a really good one today and I'm ready to say Yes tomorrow...

Just looking for some 2nd/3rd/4th opinions...

2007 Enthusiast
---Automatic
---Black
---Splash guards, cargo net, trunk mat, floor mats

MSRP --- $31,595

OTD --- $27,493 (includes trade in, taxes (8%), licensing, and fees)

Going to put about $15k down, do 60 month financing, so I'm looking at about $290-$300 a month...

Would you guys pull the trigger tomorrow as well or can I do better?

Thank you ahead of time for the opinions!!!

Welcome. My target price is $29,700. Haven't the faintest about out-the-door.

Sounds like a hell of deal to me; almost to good since it includes tax, license, etc.

Are you sure it is an Enthusiast? Look for cruise control buttons on steering wheel. No buttons means its a Base no matter what dealer says.

As for you doing better, some will say "yes". But, on the this site if you said the dealer gave you car, at least three people will tell that they got theirs free & dealer paid for first years gas!

davidv, I never get it on your "target price" posts. in this case he's already said his all in price is $2300 BELOW your target price. what is point?

Yep, its definitely an Enthusiast.

Base doesn't come in Automatic.

Didn't want the Touring package, as I plan on adding navigation and Ipod and Bluetooth on my own via a 7inch flat screen Eclipse system.(I find the radio in the Z to be very plain)

Appreciate your opinion Brickyard Rat, I thought it was a pretty good deal myself.

Keep the opinions/suggestions coming and thanks again!!!

The OP mentions includes trade-in. Is the value of the trade in $500? $3,000? I don't know.

That's correct.

He said "...$27,493 (includes trade in),"

So we really don't have the foggiest idea how much is really paying.

The value of my trade in was roughly 3200, if that helps...

Sorry, didn't know that info needed to be shared...

MSRP was $31,595
Invoice I believe is a lil over $29-$29500

Crunching the numbers, it looks like the dealer is making about $900 outta the deal, if I'm figuring this all out correctly...

Lemme know what you think with this new info, thanks!!!

Well, your giving them pyment in 2 forms, money, and another vehicle. So the combined value is what your actually paying for the car. Pretty hard to know if your getting a good deal if you don't tell us how much you actually paid.

And its also pretty hard to know what you actually paid, if you include taxes, tiel, and fees. That varies widely from state to state, even within a state.

Lets start over.

1) Tell us about your trade-make, model, mileage, condition, etc. $3200 might be a pretty good deal if your trade in is a '74 Gremlin, but maybe not so good if your trade is an '06 Escalade.

2) Tell us the negotiated price of the new car, EXCLUDING taxes and title/registration, but INCLUDING all other fees ("doc fees", transportation, dealer prep, etc).

And BTW "invoice price is NOT what the dealer actually pays for teh car.

Make this simple for me. What are you paying BEFORE trade-in, taxes and fees?

I missed the trade in part in the starter post. So, $27,493 + 3200 = $30693?

Still sounds like a decent deal.

Definately sounds like a nice deal. I would try to shooot for 28500k ish with taxes and fees, no trade in. Thats about what I paid for my 05. The cost of an 07 is a little higher, but it shouldnt matter much.

Until he describes his trade, you have no idea how much hes actually paying.

I agree without knowing what he is trading in, this could be a horrible deal. I think everyone just got excited about it being only $27,493 OTD, which is a good deal, but only if the trade-in was valued properly!

Guess your right, Bill. I'm assuming he has some idea of the worth of his trade-in and that $3200 is close.

this OTD price means nothing w/o the price before trade-in. You usually do it separate before you get the financing #'s. Dealerships, like to include the trade-in with the price to trick people. Mixed messages=Dealerships. Don't jump on this deal just yet. Think about it first.

and what about the $15k downpayment? cash? you definitely should be able to lower the price w/o trade-in if you got that huge cash downpayment.

The dealership doesn't care about your down payment. They get the full price up front from the finance company anyway.

A big down payment might get you a better 1nterest rate, but it won;t affect the price of teh vehicle.

Sorry guys, didn't come back on last night...

My trade in is a 99 Ford Mustang...
Kelly Blue Book has it at 3200 in fair condition, which after a number of NY winters, it is...

So I was happy with what they gave me on the trade in...

I actually re-looked at my notes from the meeting, here's the breakdown...
And I apologize for the confusion, cause they gave me two ways of lookin at it, but it ends at the same number...

MSRP - 31,595
Invoice - 29,000 (roughly)
Trade In - 4100 (I had previously quoted 3200, but it was really 4100)

Got them down to roughly 29900 (he wouldn't go below this, so they gave me more on my trade in)

Total -$25,800 (29900 - 4100)

OTD (Including taxes,title,fees) - $27,493

Hopes this sheds some light on the situation and sorry for not sharing all necessary info, didn't know everything that was needed, was needed...

sounds like a decent deal to me. Trades always complicate it but I cant see you getting that much more off of that mustang somewhere else.
