Default buyng a Z from a private party...need a question answered ASAP...

just to make sure im not getting gyp'd...i wanted to see if i could take the car into a dealership so they could do an inspection on the car to make sure that everything was ok with the car...any ideas as to how much something like this would cost me? if it were up to me id check everything myself but the parentals need piece of mind (co-signing for the loan NOT BUYING IT FOR ME) any other suggestions would be appreciated as well...

i think the best bet is taking it to a mechanic that u trust and letting him/her take a look at it...and it would be helpful if they know anything about nissan esp vq's

Dealerships will charge about $100 +/- for a full inspection. Make sure they do compression checks. It would be helpful too if you could talk to the mechanic instead of the service writer after it's done. I alway insist on these inspections when I buy a used car.

yep a shop you trust is key. If they wont let you take it to a shop for an inspection you don't need to buy it.

the guy was cool about letting me take it to a shop...he even gave me the vin so i could check out a carfax...seems legit but again...gotta have that piece of mind...and unfortunately i dont have a shop that i trust because the guy who did all the work on my las car moved away about 2 months ago so yea...im pretty much left with a dealership...that on-call car inspection thing is new to me though...anyone actually try them before?

oh yea haha sorry for not updating...the guy ended up selling the car before i got the chance to come up with all the cash so i ended up having to settle for the base that i have now which i bought used from a dealership
