Just make sure that they don't slip in any bogus fees. I used VIP 2 months ago and got 'out the door' for about $200 under MSRP. That was everything including tax and DMV. The formula for VIP is fixed so don't pay MORE than that and don''t budge, if the dealer is hungry enough and your timing and nego skills are good enough you might do a little better but out the door anywhere below the MSRP (for CA) sounds fair to me. States without sales tax or lower fees would be a different story.

In the end the VIP pretty much took care of taxes and fees. FYI, I live in the south bay but bought it from the dealer in Richmond, CA.

VIP is a pretty decent deal. Be sure they don't stick it to you with $500 doc fees and window etching junk fees.

It's VPP, people!

Basically, there are 4 different levels depending upon your degree of involvement with Nissan. You have D-plan, the lowest level. Honoring the program is discretionary.

Nissan audits signed VPP claim forms against purchase orders, so paying less is really not an option. Although, from time to time on distressed merchandise I have found ways to make the price effectively a bit lower. A 350Z is not distressed merchandise.

The point of VPP is to make easy, stress free deals for everyone. Enjoy.

My target price is $38,361. As long as you are not getting stuck with bogus fees, go for it.

yep, you're correct. VPP. I've bought 3 new cars in the past. The Z was the only one where I used any VPP-type program, unfortunately it was not any less hassle at all. It was 100% hardball with the dealer just like 'normal' when buying a car ("can't you please allow us to make a profit?, just $300 more?", yada yada). The staff from the first salesman to the top cheese there at the time all denied even KNOWING of VPP!! When I showed them the VPP papers you would think I gave them something written in Martian. The main benefit it gave me was that I felt that by using the VPP formula I knew the price ahead of time and as long as they honored that price I would be happy.

In the end I got the exact car I had been pining for and I paid the VPP price to the penny, literally, so it was worth it - but it wasn't smooth.

You can pick up an 06 for about $28,500 with under 10k miles, save the first years depreciation, it drops as soon as you take it off the lot anyways.
