Default Thinking about a used z

I'm looking into getting a z, either an '08 or a used one. I guess my question is, for a used one, how do you generally go about negotiating a price? Do you usually pay what the sticker says? I've never bought a used car before, only brand new and for that, you always have the invoice price to go by in negotiations. Also, for a used vehicle, will the dealer let you see the carfax report if you ask or do you usually have to pay for it online?

You can price a used vehicle like a new vehicle. KBB is helpful, but imperfect. Consider that the 350Z is a 3-season car in Wisconsin. In the winter demand is down - so should be prices.

Most dealers will have around $4K in mark-up on a used car. Figure on getting around $1200-$2000 off. Depends on the Z market in your area.

And any honest dealer should have a Carfax account and offer to let you see it.

mjd77, Its your lucky day if your looking for a good used car. I have a 2007 Enthusiast with 12,500 miles for 23K. I am in MN too. Not that far from you. Let me know if that is something you would be interested in, if not good luck with your search.

Why you selling your car?

And when I purchased my Z, the salesman brought up the Carfax for me and even printed it off for me.

Yeah I remember your car. I think I mentioned there that it was one of the cleanest cars I've seen. Don't know why people would think there's something wrong with it... Nothing wrong with it from what I've seen.

The used one I found is a 2006 daytona blue enthusiast with 15,200 miles on it. I'd have to look again for any included options. A dealer had it listed on Edmunds at $24,799. Just for fun I emailed for a quote and they gave me $24,300. I probably won't buy anything until Feb or march anyway but it wouldn't surprise me if it was still there. The other one I found at my local dealer is a nogaro red '08 enthusiast. That's a sweet color. I'd imagine I could get that for around invoice, but I'll wait until the middle of winter. They are much more willing to deal then...especially when the car has been sitting on their lot for 3 or 4 months, so maybe they will come in under that.

I was looking at rx-8s when they came out in late '03 and the best anyone would do was around $1500 over invoice, so I figured I'd wait awhile. About 4months later, I walked into the dealership during a snowstorm and got the exact car I was previously looking at for $600 under invoice. If you want a sports car, winter is definitely the time to buy.

I guess even in New York I should hop on getting a 350z now. Especially cuz its winter and they got them end of year specials. If you want to call them that....

I guess if you want an 06 with more miles and cost more than my 2007 go for it. Good luck

^^^You're offering yours for a great price, but I'm just not interested in the color. I'm gonna wait a few more months before doing anything anyway.

Then why worry about it now? The market for sports cars is completely different in the summer versus the winter.
