Default good buy or no?

I just got in from looking at a 2004 Silver 350Z Coupe 6MT with 31k miles going for 14,600. The only problem is it has a Recovered Theft Title. but thats not too bad here in Mass. I put down a 500 refundable deposit, and have a few days to think about it. is this a good deal or no?

theft title does not sound good.

Have a mechanic you PAY & trust check it out.

I personally would pass because of the title. For not much more a clean titled Z should be able to be obtained. I'd rather get an '03 z with a clean title.

see if you can find out where it was recovered at, and go to that police department and try obtain some info on its condition when the officers recovered it. it may not be too bad.

The car was stolen with the key, never stripped, and was recovered well parked. Never been damaged in any way by the theft. My bank looked into it too. They have no problem with it. Was inspected by a state trooper. beyond a few small scratches on the front bumper, it looked fine too me.

Only concern would be resale. You might not be able to get as much as you should when selling it with that on the title, even if it's in perfect shape. And you could get another Z of the same year and mileage but a clean title for around the same price.

I'm not too worried about resale. Most likely going to get 100k miles out of it. College student and starting to save for a house. I didn't see many for the same price. Only around 18k and over. But the bank will only give me 14,900

HA!

It would be a good price for the car without the title nonsense, but that theft recovery is going to cause you nothing but headaches down the road. As someone else said, a like vehicle with comparable mileage can be had for not much more.

9 out of 10 “Thinking about getting a 350Z” threads are just a whim. The Z is not for everyone.
