Default 350z or s2k?

What do u guys think is a better car?
The thing i like about the s2k is its a natural roadster if i were to get the 350z it would be the hardtop, and the s2k is also supposed to be real fun to drive with 9k rpm.

Everything else i like 350z but i seem to like them 50/50 what u guys think?

My Z is my DD and having torque makes it MUCH more fun to drive. My buddy with an S is a little jealous.

I have driven both flat-out, on a track. The S2K handles better, but the Z's torque feels a lot better. (-To the point that I would miss it if I had to live with an S2K every day.)

I think I can save you some time, we are all going to say get a Z. Why ask something like that in a Z forum?

You just have to decide which is more important to you: handling or horsepower & looks.

well i got to say, that i really like the s2k.. i've riddin in one and test drove one.. i like the handling and of course the high rev limit.. the down side is that it is low on torque, but i can live on that tho.. the aftermarket on both sides is large so theres no difference on either end. so it really comes down to you..

i'd go get a s2k if i had another chance instead of the 350z... but i'd rather get another mitsubishi gsx over the z.. so yea.. mixed thoughts

For the most part most of the members in here answered your questions. Doesn't matter if S2k revs at 9k...you still wont feel that much tq, not that the Z have much but its better.

I say get an S2000. They are discontinued so you will see less on the road, and plus they seem more of a purist sports-car. Even better with a hardtop.

On the other hand, 350z if we turned back time 3-4 years ago since it's at generation's end with this car. A new design is around the corner. Don't get me wrong, I love the current design, but if you're on the fence you should wait for the dealers or private owners to unload.

We probably share the same sentiment: S2000 or 350z coupe > 350z Roadster

Flame all you want.

I've owned both. A 2001 Honda S2000 and now a 2005 350Z. In summary, I wish I would have bought a 350Z instead of the S2000. I'll never get those years of my life back lol.

Here is a lil post I did on another site I am on to answer the same question a guy on their had:

TheS2k is out dated now. When it first came out it was a great car.

Daily Driving:
You will think you are driving a Honda Civic EX around town with the lack of low end power. Yes, in the rare instance you hit VTEC it will be fun and quick, but it's rarely needed around town. Your top will fall apart quickly. The rear end on the older ones is VERY loose. It will kick out around every spirited turn you take if your tires aren't in top form. If you hit VTEC in that turn, you're probably going to spin out .

Top:
I've seen garage kept top's in the best of condition that just started to fall apart. Mine started out with a hole, then with in a week the back window was toast and holes were popping out all over the place.

Modibility:
You can not mod for performance unless you boost it or add juice. You are already getting 240hp crank out of a 2.0L, you are not going to get much more. My car was lowered on Tien springs, powder coated black rims, SS and Titianium exhaust, intake, 100shot (never got a chance to use it).

Head turning:
This car will do it. I've had girls randomly come up and give me their number just based off of me pulling up with the top down and parking.

Drag Strip:
Enjoy trying to stay in Vtec. This means 6,000RPMS+ clutch drops/feathers. You will be lucky if your able to shift into second after killing the clutch at such high RPMS.

Twisties:
Never played with these but I had a buddy that went flying off of the Dragon and totaled his.

The 350Z seems like a higher build quality to me. Already the street driving is AMAZING. It is great to be in any gear at any rpm and have more than enough power to get in trouble. I can easily pass in 6th gear. 1st is nothing but wheel spin if i take off too hard, 2nd gets stable after it gets traction from what I can see already. 3rd and up is just gobs of power. The shifting is very smooth yet tight. The whole car seems to be an extension of your body. It's a pretty amazing ride.

I don't notice girls anymore. I'm married lol. As for head turning in the 350Z, its there. I've had a couple guys walk up to me at the gym and ask questions about it, a ton of people at work, various head turns when driving past people. Typical stuff. I haven't told ANY of my friends about it yet, so that'll be some more fun i'll have.

My wife loves it. She loves to be seen in it already and it's only been a few days. She wants to go drive around because she thinks she's hot stuff in it. It's cute . It doesn't hurt my 'image' to have a hot little asian girl ridin' shot gun too lol. Its a big step up image wise from a Jeep Rubicon.

I'm not going to write a bunch about the 350 like i did the s2k. I haven't owned it but 3 or 4 days now.

I am in no way racist. but S2K's are really meant for asians. (small structured people) seriously.

But I did drive both and I love the torque in the Z, if i were to purchase a S2K I would drop a 2jz motor in.

I'm 5'11" 170lbs and I fit fine in the S2k. I even had a buddy of mine that was 6'4" 260lbs drive it a couple times and he even fit. The S2k might be a tighter cockpit than the 350Z. It holds you like a glove. But hey, i guess all Asians are small and all non Asians are big? I'm guess you're quite the fatty if you find the s2k small, huh?
