If you can afford the 07, get it.

Is $14k all you're gonna have to spend on a car? Or are you gonna use it as a down?

keep saving till march/april, you're only going to have another month or so before the weather turns on you this year. You can save up some more till next spring and have a lower monthly payment with a higher downpayment.

Keep saving until you can afford the 07+.

You'll enjoy it a LOT more than an 03-06.

Do not make the mistake of buying an 03-06 if you can afford an 07+ one day in the near future.

If your like me 14000 is plenty to pay cash for an 03 -04 model.I would pay straight cash for one. And if your modding it doesnt really make a difference in what year you get.You can make any of them fast.No car payment = more money to mod and make it stomp on the stock 07-08. Why pay 25-32 thousand on a newer car? Id rather pay 14000 cash and mod away. They all look the same hooked up anyways.

I think the '03-'06 will be more mod-friendly - IE it will respond to your
cash better (should you choose to FI). You will have significantly better
out of the box performance with '07+. Depends where you want to go
with this.

Keep in mind, the earlier years have more problems and more mileage which equals more wear & tear, which translates into more money being spent on parts that break.

Forged just TTed an HR (07+) that was holding 500+ hp on a dyno dynamics. No stock block DE (03-06) can hold that kind of power.

I do keep that in mind, but in my position .I dont care about mileage or problems .Its going to happen to a older car or a newer car.Im gonna rebuild my bottomend and go turbo.
So why worry about milage or tranny. Im going to be changing it out for better stuff anyways. Suspension will eventally be redone with performce stuff as well.
It really depend on what you want. I have a 03. It had 87000 miles when i bought it. I piad 13000 cash for it.I have had no problems out of my car.No tire feathering Issues or tranny problems .I beat on it every day.
I have cash saved for my project funds. Even if the motor blew, i would have plenty of cash to buy another engine. You can find engine on ebay and forums For like 2000 shipped with 15000 mile all day.
Its still cheaper route than being stuck with that big ole payment for a stock car...I have put over 15000 miles on my car.

not really, try getting 300whp with just bolt-ons from a DE, not going to happen. HR's are more, or just as mod friendly as DE's, with a tune or reflash of course.

Its cheaper to buy used and build up your car the way you want it .Than buy a brand new car and mod for most people. At 19 i would buy used and have fun with the car and save your money than getting in debt with a new and lose out.just my oppinion.

Well, if you're saying you got an 03 because you want to rebuild it and give it boost... An 03 would be a decent choice, as the HR doesn't have many options.

As for the 03... wanting to customize it, here's a rough price list for the OP to consider.

2003 350z = ~$15000-$18000
Built engine = ~$5000
Twin-turbo setup = ~$10000
Vortech setup ~=$6500
06+ Headlights = $1200
06+ Taillights = $320
New wheels/tires = $3600
Lowering shocks.springs = $1000

If you plan on staying N/A... plan on spending a lot of money for not very great gains.

Things to keep in mind...
Window motor
Tire feathering
rear suspension revision
transmission problems
window streaks
faulty stereo
faulty gas-fill tube

Well i found my car for 13000 cash. Im gonna do my motor myself for most part so ,5000 would be cut down in price. cost would include rods and pistons and pay a shop to balance it and blueprint. Most labor will come from me.I have seen greddy tt kits new go for 5000-6000 plus utech 500.i will install myself . Tow it to a tuner which will cost me 500.

+1 to that.

But '04.5 and '05s will probably have the least problems as that is the last year before they went to rev-up. I myself owned a 05 and the only problem I had was a clicking noise at my diff. and I fixed that right away.

Did you make this thread?

That's right, we're discussing options for the OP. I'm very mechanically inclined, but that doesn't make me assume the OP is.

I'm trying to give some insight to the OP, then you come in saying "Oh, I can do this stuff myself, so it won't cost much more", when you're not the OP.

Note - I said if you choose to go FI.

We are way past debating mods on NA apps.
