Default Should I purchase a 350z with 90-100k miles?

Hey guys, I'm looking to purchase a Z as my next car and i had a couple of questions regarding the reliability. I have found some really great deals on a couple 03-04 high mileage Z's (90-100k) and i was wondering if this would be a wise choice? Is 100k too much for a Z? I'm coming from an IS300 where 100k is nothing and i'm not very familiar with Nissans so i'd appreciate your feedback. By the way, i don't plan on racing or modifying the Z at all. It's just going to be a daily cruiser/commuter. Thanks!

If the car was a commuter then I see nothing wrong with buying a 350Z that was a commuter from the jump...many aren't so make sure you do your homework first on any car (dealership/private seller) doesn't matter...

I know a few 350z that have 100k and up and are just fine. These cars are built to last. Is it a manual or automatic? If its a manual you might want to test drive to make sure the clutch isnt worn.

I agree, as long as it wasn't abused it should be fine. I only have a bit over 45k on my 04.5, but I don't foresee any problems and I haven't heard of really any stories with VQ35's failing when not abused with forced induction. You should be fine, but obviously get any car you're looking at checked out by a good mechanic to ensure all is well prior to purchasing.

What price are you paying? Deals are getting better every day since 370 came out.

Have mechanic you trust go over the car.

100,000 miles is fine. But I would expect price to be $12 K or less.

Thank you for the responses.

I'm currently looking at an 04 6MT with 98k miles for $9k. No modifications. Completely stock. It's in excellent condition from the looks of it. My next step is to get behind the wheel and see how it drives.

Is there a thread you could direct me to on what i should look for when purchasing a used Z? I tried the search fuction but i couldn't find any threads on this topic.

You can't really beat that for that 9k. Just don't get suckered into buying anything extra for the car.

Definitely. 100,000 miles is better than 200,000.

sports car+high miles = awful resale; buy a nice one if you plan on keeping it until it blows up or needs an overhaul

My Z has 92xxx, and I have never had any problems out of it. I change the Mobil 1 oil every 3K and always put the best gas in it. That may be the reason, but all I know is that I drive 100+ miles a day for work, and I get about 24-28 mpg. Best car I have ever had, hands down.
