Default question about 2006 350z

Well i am currently at a cross road, i can afford a 2005-2006 350z with low mileage however should i buy? Is every engine prone to oil consumption? What is the incidence rate of high oil consumption? Ive been doing alot of lurking on the forums, finding good and bad but i am worried. From what i read, the v2's haven't 100% solved the problem. Should i just fork up a few more dollars and get a 2007 enthusiast / touring.

Cheers

I have an 06 and do not have a proble with oil consumption. Maybe a 1/4 of a quart between changes.

if you find that the 06s you find are only a little less than the 07s you find..
i would say get the 07s.. HR FTW

Depends on what you are going to do with it.

Are you modding or is it staying stock? If modding, I'd get the DE. If stock, I'd get the HR.

How much of a price difference is there?
What models? Options? Remember, the 05s have the older style headlights, tailights, body features etc.

I have an '06 and check my oil every weekend just to be on the safe side. It has not given me any trouble with oil consumption. Get the '06 over the '05 for the reasons already mentioned. As far as the DE vs the HR goes, it all depends on the options you want. You can probably find a Grand Tourning '06 for about the same price you can find a base '07. Good luck!

I have an '06 and monitor the oil consumption...no measurable issues whatsoever after further review =]

Biggest factor for me, personally. The HR is sort of a "dead end" since the parts interchange is slim between the DE's (03-06 350z, maximas, altimas, g35s, frontiers... etc) and, as far as anyone knows, even the VHR (g37,370z)

go DE for sure.
the HR in the end will cost more BANK!!!!
Hard to find parts for cheap!

Get a used supercharger for DE for around 2k and turbo kit 2k-4k...
HR you will be paying 7-8k....

my plans are pretty basic, an intake (pop charger or short ram), an exhaust and some rims for the most part.

My ideal car would be a 2007 touring with leather . im more of a stock kinda guy i guess, i don't have lots of cash atm to be buying a supercharger. maybe in a few years the price of HR supers might fall?

gotcha. the HR engine has a high compression which limits the amount of boost correct? so if there was a SC or Turbo it would be minor boost >6 lbs correct?
