Default Anyone here ever had a dealer randomly make them an offer?

I totally forgot about this but a few months ago a dealership I frequent for maintenance made me an offer for my car. Just thinking about it now and was like I wonder if this has happened to anyone else?

It was an email and they said I should check out their inventory. Sadly at the time they had nothing I was interested in.

extremely common. another money maker for them. they don't really want your car for any special reason, they are just throwing the idea at you that they'd be willing to buy it and make a deal on a different car.

When I was a car dealer, that would be where I would make the big money. I would go into the service area and find cars about 6 years old and talk to the owner. I would tell them crap like, why not put that $$$ towards a new car. Or what if I can put you in a new car and keep your payment the same. Works well.

HAHA, true. I remember one time a man came in looking for a vehicle for himself. He was thinking of handing down his old vehicle to his son. Well, they left with two brand new vehicles. The son was on a lease. Now don't think I am shady. It was the best option for them. The old vehicle was crap and his new lease vehicle was a Scion Tc. by the time he was out of college he would have wanted a new vehicle anyways, so this was perfect and he had no extra maintenance costs of keeping up an old clunker.
