Default So most likely dumb questions...

So, a few dumb questions, but I'm looking at picking up a used Z and I'm just confused on a couple things. I've read the stickies, I'm just trying to get a slightly more in depth answer.

First, on the Base trim 350Z, does it not have traction control at all, or is it that it has some sort of computer traction nanny that cannot be turned off, but can be in the higher trim levels?

Second, how important is traction control? Is it "wow, probably a good idea to have it", or is it "if you don't drive in poor weather like an idiot, you'll never know the difference"?

Finally, with the Osiris tune w/ multiple maps is it controlled through the cruise control, or is it done through a nifty little tuner "box" like most of the flashes on the market? If done totally through the cruise control interface, should I just go ahead and pay the price difference to get an Enthusiast over a Base?

Thanks in advance for the help, and I'll go dig through stickies some more to make sure I'm not missing an answer to a question I asked.

base does not have the limited slip; so no traction control. one tire fire ftl.

can't tell you what it's like on a base, but i like having the traction control on my touring.

About 73,000 miles in a 350Z and I may have activated TCS 6 times.

TCS was been mildly useful on slippery climbs in the winter months. The other 99% of the time that the car has been driven, TCS has been a nuisance. It gets deactivated at every single autox or track event without exception. It's usefulness is limited to street use.

I have a base and when it rains hard which has happened here in socal, I just drive slow and careful. Never had an issue. But to be honest I would love cruise control so by all means get the enthusiast.

Awesome, thanks for the replies. I'll shoot Osiris an email about the cruise control thing (what, go right to the source for answers? no...), and I think I may just end up getting the Base if I can't find the enthusiast for the right price. I work for a aftermarket parts place, so getting a LSD shouldn't be all that hard, and if I can't figure out how to install it, I'm sure someone I know will.

I have owned an Enthusiast Z and a Base (current Z). I do miss having the cruise control and the VLSD, but for street driving I cannot tell any performance difference with having the VLSD. On the cruise control, I have only used it twice on my past Z.
