Canadians in Americaland looking for Cars...
This is a bit of a beaten topic, but stay with me here.
I'm looking to find a bit of a deal on a used 350, and Canadian prices are absurd-- this is nothing new. I know the process of importing etc. so that's not an issue.
Right now I'm just trying to figure out the best place in the states to get a car.
I'm in Vancouver, BC so most of the time I'm looking on Craigslist in places like LA, Phoenix, Bay Area, Sacramento and so on. Sometimes I hit up Ebay, but the no-reserve deals are few and far between, sort of slim pickin's...
What I'm asking here is what places in the States seem to have good pricing, or where there seem to be a lot of 350's for sale (I don't mind East coast as long as I can make sure it's rust free), what websites people use other than craigslist and ebay and so on. Maybe the south? Texas? not sure...
Canadians who've done this already will likely be able to shed some good light on this, but anyone that is noticing prices dropping in their area etc. or can give some advice would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Check out some local forums. You'll usually find fellow enthusiasts selling their cars there, plus you can search for all posts or all threads by that person and probably gain some insight on the car, like whether it's been wrecked or abused.

prices of Z's are really that bad up there huh? when i was selling my Z, 3 random canadians came all the way to NY with a bag of cash for my car. i thought it was a scam cause he said he would buy it before even looking at it.
he told me the same thing, prices up there are nuts and they make money by buying them here.
good luck finding one

Details? Pm me
Yeah its a little absurd. I mean, there are still plenty of 03 models in the 20K range up here, and HR models are (for non-salvage, decent mileage) mostly in the above 25K range-- at least after taxes and everything you likely won't find one under 25K when everything is said and done.
I plan on doing the same thing when I find one. Call the guy, negotiate a price and buy it before seeing it. Its an incentive for sellers to go down on price a little more too I think, since they have an assured sale.
Thanks to all the other info too, Autotrader is a really good resource!

Since you're in BC, just use Portland, Oregon's (or similar) zip code and use a distance limiter.

Thanks for all the replies, I've started using pretty much everything you guys told me-- autotrader is a great one, and local forums are the jackpot too, since I get a history for most of them.
I've gotten a couple of great offers in the mean time, but I've also noticed that the newer the car, the bigger the savings are down there compared to here, so I've decided to hold out a little longer and save up some more cash, and then get a 370 instead-- blasphemy, I know!
