Don't even bother with those salvage titles, not worth it.

Probably a great deal for a dedicated race car, maybe a good deal if your turning it into a fully modded show car, doubt i would even bother for a daily driver car.

Mmmmm, despite that fact that is still a uber deal...I'd go for it as long as you can get that new title. To give you an idea I just bought my 07' HR in april with 30k on it for $18500, I def. woulda jumped on this, is it the base model?
What kind of damage was it? Front? Rear?

Also something to keep in mind if you are going to mod the car is there is not as much variety in mods for the HR's. I'm sure you know a thing or 2 from when you had your 05.

Doesn't sound too bad. Honestly if the body lines up and the mechanics are all working as they should then it depends what you want to do in the end. Meaning if this was a car to be built up and abused then if they are asking 9 then 7-8K cash should take her away. At that price what's the big deal? Now if you plan on trading this car in or selling down the road then stay away from salvages to own and treat as gem. 07-08's are still twice that or around 15k minimum in good condition with low miles. At that price I'd rather spend a little more and get a Nismo. Also for me it would depend on Color, Trim etc. No way would i even consider if it wasn't a preferred color or trim IE: Leather, Nav..

Good Luck!

^^^Highway riding brings up some good points too. I love my Z but its only a base. Really wish I stuck around for one with leather and at least a VLSD.

Youll want to check around and see what insurance companies will cover a salvage vehicle. Some wont, while others may charge you more in annual premium than what they'll pay you if you wreck it.

I just bought my 2007 Grand Touring with 40k and a rebuilt title for $8500 a month ago and it is.. flawless. It drives perfectly, every single thing works exactly as new and it drives like a beast. Literally, it's like a new car. I am big on rebuilt cars, you just have to be smart about what you are looking for, do your research and find out exactly what the damage was from. My seller even had pictures of the damage and you could clearly see the bumper was cracked, and the left headlight.. and that's it. Certainly no airbags were deployed or anything, the guy was going 22 MPH. But at shop/dealer prices, it must have been ridiculous to repair/paint, when all my guy did was go get a new bumper, light and oh yeah.. the white reservoir thing on the left needed a new bracket. Which cost 11 dollars. That's it. I cannot believe the insurance company totaled it.

Anwyays, stay away from flood damage at all costs, and do your diligence to check for frame damage, etc.. you can find out all this info if you do your research. Some people go and replace airbags, but I don't touch those, I find a ton of cars salvaged with perfectly intact airbags all around. If you see vandalism, jump on those, as you can replace the few parts yourself and bolt them right back on. I didn't have to do any of the work or buy the parts either, mine was totally repaired and inspected/issued rebuilt title and I got it like this for 8.5k.. it's fully insured by Progressive (stick with a big insurance company like them or Allstate, Geico, etc..) and now I have my dream car for half the price.

Just my 2 cents

bought my 05 track over two years ago now with a rebuilt title and 40k on the odometer. 65k now and still runs like a champ. aligns just fine and everything works like it should. my wife also has an 08 mazda three that we had rebuilt ourselves three years ago and it has been a wonderful car. Who cares if it sells for less, car depreciate, no big news there, and you bought it for less so if you sell it your gonna get less, but your loss on the car wont be any greater than a person that bought a clean titled car, in fact id wager that you would probably lose less reselling.

edit, although as others have said, be careful and make sure you know what damage caused the write off and you feel comfortable that the repairs were made properly. in my case we bought my wife's car with damage and had our own guy repair it. with my z, the woman had owned it for two years after repair and her husband oversaw its repair at the shop he personally worked at. if these check out then go for it, i love my z no less and i didnt have to get a loan to buy the car

Why buy salvage? Odds are there were corners cut, otherwise it would've have been deemed a total loss..

Salvage or rebuilt title means it was deemed a total loss but then repaired and legally registered. It was "salvaged" from the car crusher.
