I am looking at an 04 6mt with 86k miles. Im just wondering what maintenance I might be looking at in the near future. Ive done a bit of research and from what I've found, these engines are reliable as long as they are properly maintained. Also, found out about the 03 and early 04 tranny problems with the synchros, but we drove it and it shifted fine throughout all the gears with no grinding. I know a lot of owners have also complained about the window motors, both worked as well.

Im getting my friend whos a mechanic and owns a midas to look over before i decide. It also does not have a rebuilt or salvage title. There are 2 reports for it, checked over both, and there was nothing major wrong on it.

Anyways, the question is basically what kind of maintenance should I be expecting in the future and at what mileage?

 

86K is high mileage?

Probably spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, PCV valve, oil change, radiator flush, tranny fluid drain and fill, check brake pads/rotors etc..

I would say 90K isn't that high, I've seen some Z's around here for sale and they had around those miles and were clean.

I test drove a G35 with 114K and it ran like a top.

Hahaha i realize its not "high" but I guess its just a little bit higher then I was expecting to be buying.

I joined back then because thats when i first wanted a Z. However, I was not in a position to buy one until recently.
