Thinking about getting a Z
Well, I've always been really interested in the 350z's. I find them to be very sexy cars and they're rarely seen where I'm from.
Right now I have a 2000 Mustang GT, Pristine condition, low miles, Tons of mods. It's currently my baby. But, I keep thinking about trading it in for a Z or selling it and getting one. There's just something about this car that makes me want one. I know it's going to handle better then my mustang from what I've heard and I'm confused on what I should do I suppose. Just looking for some input.

It's a very enjoyable car. I have never regretted my purchase. I say test drive is your next step. As far as recommendations, it all depends on your financial situation. If you're poor, you'll need to look at 03-05s. If you've got the dough, go for an 07-08. Good luck

As mentioned,drive a Z.
Its a much different car from your Mustang.
Especially concerning handling.
Since it appears that you have some knowledge
of wrench twirling,I'd look for a stock/no mod Z.
You may find a Z with mods that were well done.
For every one of those there a five that are done
poorly.
Good luck!

When i was looking i was thinking two routes, 03-05 or 07 -08.
03-05
Pros - affordabable and wouldnt mind beating on it at the track or drift events cause it was affordable.
Cons - interior is not as nice, older DE style engine, didnt like the older headlights, hood or tail lights
07-08
Pros - loved the new style headlights, hood, and tail lights. Interior was a little nices that the older models and the HR engine showed better gains with bolt on.
Cons - Cost a lil more and thought i would be afraid to track it and drift it at events.
I could have got the older yr model and upgrade the lights and hood but I figured after i sourced the parts and painted the hood i would be paying a good bit. I figured i would regret going DE instead on getting the HR engine.
As for tracking and drifting the car, i havent tracked it yet but have drifted at a few events and just careful where i go at it hard and dont drift it at events where i could potentially put into a wall.

taking a 03 and making the body changes to make it look like a 07-08 will cost a fortune, and your better off just getting the 07-08.
interior will not be as important because you will get over the small changes like where the caution light button is or the cup holders in the doors. the only thing i wish i had (i have 03) is the plug for a radar detector or cell phone charger in the front instead of behind my seats.
as far as power and drifting, you will barely notice the difference, and if you are concerned about rev limiter just buy a good tune and you will be set.
do i wish i had the hr YES, but was it worth it for me to spend more money for something i would hardly notice when i found my 03 for $10,000 with only 65,000 miles NO. look for a deal do not overpay because you think you will be happy looking at twin intakes when you pop the hood or stupid shiz like that
Edit: sounds like you have been bit by the mod bug already so buy the cheap one and mod it, it doesn't sound like you will keep many stock components so why pay for the improvements the factory made when you can make them yourself for the most part

HR responds better to bolt on mods though right? meaning if u put I/H/E on a HR, you will see more gains in a HR vs DE?
and the HR has a stronger bottom end and it can handle more power on a stock block?
