Talking Touring; Grand Touring...wish folks would get it right

...perhaps I'm beating a dead horse in the ground...but, it's not just dealers on EBay, but private sellers too who advertise the Z they're selling as a Grand Touring model, when in fact it's more than easy to see that they've simply got either an enthusiast or touring model...most recently with one particular private party on Ebay with his orange '07 with yellow??? seats advertised that way and with a dealer in Colorado actually showing the window sticker that disclosed the fact that he was advertising a touring model as a grand touring model...I figure that there ought to be at least a law which would allow those of us perturbed by their idiocy to b-slap them a couple times....

Good points.
Some dealers, incl Nissan dealers, think every Z model sold in the Z Grand
Touring year IS a G Touring.Yes,some know and are trying to sell
something that it is not.Just as many are just plain stupid.
Buyer beware is the best way to go.
Do your homework.

This can work to a buyers advantage as it did when I bought my 2006 Grand Touring 350Z. The dealer selling the car used thought it was an Enthusiast model even though the Brembo brakes were a clear give away that it was in fact a Grand Touring model. I got a very good deal!

I bought my Z from a dealer and it was described as a Grand Touring roadster. It's a Touring. Since then, I've come to understand all the subtle differences between trim levels and can pick out an impostor really quick. I feel your pain with this one...

Some dealers/sellers do it out of ignorance. Some do it to deceive! Not long ago I contacted a local Nissan dealer to tell them they advertised a Touring as a Grand Touring.
Because we are so obsessed/focused we tend to be more knowledgeable and notice things like that.

Where in the VIN does it distinguish what model it is? It doesn't. How many people do you think have added Brembos to a non-Track model? Or upgraded a Base to Touring spec, etc, etc. It's difficult, to say the least, to be positive about model specifics unless you have the window sticker.
