Question SILVERSTONE Z: P21S Carnauba, or 'Regular' Wax? --NON CG/Zaino Topic--

I've seen all the Crystal Guard vs. Zaino arguments, so please NO reccommendations on those 2 products.

I got my Z a little over 3 weeks ago, so using 'regular' polish is fine with me. I'll probably switch to one of those other products when it gets to be 1 or more years older, but for now.....I'd like to keep it simple.

I came across P21S Carnauba and heard really great things about it. Has anyone used carnauba wax at length?

If not, what other kinds or brands of wax would you guys reccommend?

Keep in mind, my color is Silverstone.....not a very shiny color.

i do ALOT of detailing actually jsut got done with 3 cars, i would into a good wax but nothing expessive. p21s is one of my favorite waxes and shows unrealy depth on darker colred cars spending the money for it and usuing it on sliver wouldnt really do antyhgin extra. Also carnubas are long lasting at all a nice hot day and some raind and about 1/4 to 1/2 or your wax is gone.

The wax/sealant i use on most of the light colored cars is Meguairs NXT or Sealtec. Nice an inexpensive last long and great results any other questions shoot me a PM

enhanced250,

Thanks for your help man. I tried to private message you, but it said "enhanced250 has exceeded their stored private messages quota and can not accept further messages until they clear some space."

I have a few more questions.

I'll go with the Meguairs NXT Tech Wax, for my Silverstone 350Z.

I was looking on Meguairs site and came across their Polymer Sealant and Synthetic Sealent. Would either of these 2 be used AFTER I put on the NXT Wax? I'm confused as to whether they're add-ons to waxing, or they're a different type of wax all together.

Or.......after applying the NXT Tech Wax, should I just spray on the NXT Spray Wax, instead of using their other sealants?

Does any of this sound like a method you'd use? If not, then please share. I'm more than willing to listen.

Sorry about all the questions! I am greatful that you were kind enough to help me out.

I've used NXT on my SS and originally liked the look...very shiny and brought out alot of the gray...but something you may want to try is megs ColorX..again shined up nicely...but more of the silver and flake were brought out...my last combo(before this winter) was ColorX + NXT then topped with megs #16 paste carnuba...looked good...my next recipie is going to be megs #80 topped with #16..I'll let you know once we thaw out up here in New England

In the "Guru Reports" wax and polish shootout, comparing 46 different products, the p21s came out just behind "another product" (that won overall) that you said you didn't want me to mention.

you always layer a carnuba product over a sealant after you throw down a sealant wait about an hour for it to setup and then lay a layer of carnuba, there are better product out there such as klasse twins blackfire and menzerna which in my opinion are hands down better than zaino, zaino does give AWESOME results but very time consuming and an empty wallet

best bet i say nxt x 2 with p21s on top if you like
or
klasse sg x2 toppped with p21s

ps i clean out my PMs

mrZeee,

Yes, please keep me updated.

enhanced250,

Thanks again man. I'll add Klasse to the list.

Dr. Bonz,

lol I was wondering when you were going to respond. Yes, I have an idea of what product you're talking about. Maybe it begins with a Z? Here's the thing. I've read most of your posts & have viewed some of your pictures. A beauty of a car! You have the burgundy color, correct? That is obviously a darker color than Silverstone.

Question: Have you seen anyone using Zaino on a Silverstone 350?

It seems like most of these products are aimed at dark-colored cars.

About The Guru Reports: I want to order them, but.......
1.) Do they say what color cars those tests are done on?

My First Time Waxing A Car:

I pretty much went against the advice that everyone game me for my 1st time waxing and what not, but I was lazy today. So.......instead of prepping & washing the car myself, I went to the dealer for their 'free carwash'. Not the right way to do it, but it worked for me.

I drove on the highway (which dried it off almost perfectly), then I went home, opened the doors & trunk to get all that annoying water that somehow gets stuck in the door jabs and trunk seals. Does anyone else have this annoying problem????? The weather stripping seems really half-assed!!!!!

After I dried the car completely, I used the NXT Tech Wax. I applied it with that pad it came with, then used a polishing cloth after it dried. It looked better in the daytime, but it looked sweet at night!

I'll add a 2nd coat tomorrow, when I'm sober.......it's taken me 30 mins. to weed out all the typos. Goodnight.

I used to use a carnauba wax on my silverstone, it looks great, but the thing is, it leaves an oily residue and seems to attract dirt. I just ordered Zaino, the whole kit, leather, wheel, glass cleaner and the clearcoat wax. I was amazed, so shiny and slick about the same or slightly less effort than the carnauba wax i had. This was in direct sunlight too. I put two coats of Zaino on so far and it's just really nice looking.

I use it (not to say the name) on my silverstone Much deeper look than anything else I have tried.

Here are some pic links (way to big to use {img} tag):

VandyZ,

Did that super black Z use Z.......Z.......Zaino! to?

I like the way you used different lighting to compare how the car looks. Nice job.

I already have NXT coat #1 on, so I repeated the same process that I went through a few days ago: dealer wash, drove on highway (this time the water flew off the car), came home and dried w/ a towel.

Then, I added the 2nd coat of NXT Tech Wax. Looks amazing. Really brought out the sparkle. This stuff is really easy to use as well. I let each section dry for about 15-20 minutes, then I wiped it off with a lambskin polishing mit. I'm going to get some Four Star Ultimate Gloss Enhancer Spray next. I've heard good things about it. I should have a digital camera by sometime next week, so I'll try and post pictures.

Since my car is still new, I'll continue to experiment with the 'over-the-counter' cheap stuff, then somewhere down the road I will probably try Zaino or other premium products.

I think the black car has used every wax invented . . .lol. Its hard to say what he used before that pic.

I have used NXT . . .Infact I use it on my side skirts and bumpers. The reason is, I like to use cleaner wax on these areas to get the grime off. Once you wax, you cant use zaino without removing the wax. NXT is ok with this. So thats why I use it on these pieces.

The one problem I have with NXT compared to Zaino is NXT is hard on the trim and non painted surfaces. It does not like to come off and does discolor black items. Zaino comes off the paint easier as well as these other areas, plus it does not cause discoloration.

I am our local Zaino pro (if you will), and unfortunately people use my car as the "proof". The unfortunate part is they dont understand Zaino laws and cant follow the process. People expect their car to look like mine just by using it. I think you can get near Zaino performance with alot less effort by using other products. I can tell the differences between effort levels and or products. Kinda sucks because I know what I have to do to my car to get it the way I want. I know the pictures donÃÕ show it but if you park my car next to another Silverstone most can tell a difference. Its all what makes you happy. If I were not so **** I would use nxt on the whole car myself. Anybody who asks what I recommend I always say NXT for polymer wax and Liquid Glass for traditional wax. I usually only recommend Zaino if I know they are like me (or have a feeling I will be helping a lot).

Here's what I just noticed with the NXT: Dust accumulation! This is annoying. Hopefully that 4 Star spray will get rid of that dust attraction.

I just put on my first coat of NXT this past weekend and I'm pretty impressed. I'm planning to wax the car once a week, so for now I'll stick with the NXT. What is Liquid Glass? Who's it made by?

http://www.liquidglass.com/

Its what I had always used before Zaino. I used to have to mail order it or pick it up at car shows. Pepboys now sells it here in TN.

LOL, you know I found the same thing. Its the static that builds up from rubbing i guess. I always california dust the car after I wipe off. It solves the problem.

Thanks, but what is the purpose of using it on top of the NXT? I'm new to this, so could you maybe explain what the different types of waxes are and what the application is for each?

Liquid Glass is made by the SAME (yes the same!) magical elves that make Zaino. So, it will turn your car into a liquid sex dream! Their factory lies deep in the dank woods of Bonnuckburn. Ok, I'm delerious right now at work, so dont mind me.......

VandyZ, I just bought a Cali duster. I'd never thought I'd have to dust an automobile. My $30k dusty toy.

My bad, I was just saying that for people who like more traditional waxes I prefer Liquid Glass.

For easy easy polymer type waxes NXT is not bad.

I was not saying I use one on top of the other.
