Removing Zaino with Porter Cable?
Is it possible to remove Zaino with the PC? The reason is, although it is relatively easy to remove, I notice on certain parts I have to use a LOT of elbow grease. But my concern is that I will put scratches in the clearcoat.
Anyone know if it is okay to use the PC to remove Zaino? If so, what speed do I use, and what bonnet should be used? I have a Sonus DAS Buffing Bonnet. Would this be safe to use? If so, this would make my job 10 times easier!
TIA!

The "official" way to remove Zaino is with alcohol. That's non-abrasive so you won't have to worry about scratches.
I have used 3M Swirl Mark Remover on spots and that too will remove Zaino. It's mildly abrasive so you probably don't want to do that too often.
You mention using a PC - what were you planning on using on the pad to actually remove the Zaino?

I was planning on misting some Z-6 or water. Where does it say that alcohol should be used to remove Zaino? What type of alcohol should I use on the pad?
Also, can I just use the pad (dry) with nothing on it? I That is what I generally do when I remove by hand.

Oh, wait, I am not talking about COMPLETELY getting rid of Zaino. What I'm referring to is after you put it on, just wiping it off...I don't want to wipe it off by hand, and I was hoping I could use a MF bonnet on the PC.
Okay, well I did some searching, and it seems as if it is fine to do so:

After I discovered Zaino, I've been applying it almost everytime I wash my car. I'm addicted to it, because it looks great when it's done. The part I hate about Zaino is taking it off, especially the doors. I don't mind putting Zaino on. I think it's very quick and takes me 30 min. tops. So the last time around I've decided to use my cheap Waxmaster that was sitting around to take off the wax. I was impressed of how much faster I was able to take off the wax, and also how stunning it looked in the end result.
So the question is, IF I'm only going to use the PC 7424 to take off the wax, is it worth? It concerns me b/c the PC it is only 6". If I'm only going to purchase it to take off the wax, what items do I have to buy? (ie. PC7424, 6" velcro pad, lambswool pad and the microfiber bonnet?) Do you actually get a better result with the PC if you apply it with the white foam pad?
I know a LOT of ppl think it's pretty easy to take Zaino off etc.... BUT I barely have time anymore to do anything, and if I can save an extra hour and some energy everytime I wash my car, it'd be great.

Sorry for the mis-understanding on my part.
I've never used anything to remove Zaino except by hand, so I can't really recommend a pad or bonnet to use. I would suppose that a microfiber or cotton terry-cloth type bonnet would work fine.
As easy as it comes off by hand, I would think it would take more effort to lug a PC around to remove it.

If your Zaino is hard to remove by hand you are doing something wrong, most likely applying it too thick, it should wipe off effortlessly. If you want to use the PC with Zaino it would be in your best interest to apply the Zaino with a black or gray foam finishing pad to assure even distribution and then wipe off the residue by hand.

I just used the MF bonnet, misted some water on the panel, and the PC did the rest of the work! It worked great, and didn't leave any scratches. The PC was set at 2. It takes about half the time, and less than half of the effort. In addition, I think that the car looks better than when I did it by hand. I'll post pix in the next couple of days after finishing off with a couple of coats of Z-2.
As for applying it too thick, I don't believe I did. The Zaino DOES wipe off easily for the most part. In fact, I can usually wipe with a finger, and it comes right off. Then there are those other parts the I have difficulty with, and it makes Zaino'ing hell! The worst part is the door panel and the sideskirts. With the PC, I am less likely to have back pain.
In sum, I may be a minority when it comes to the removal of Zaino, but I think the PC works better and is pretty effortless. So if you have the porter cable, I suggest you try it out and decide for yourself.
