Default Finally Switched to Zano

After almost three years of using Klasse polish (and All in One once) and hearing about Zano I switched to Zano this weekend. I started at the beginning by washing my car with Dawn then using the clay bar on the entire car using Z7 and water in a spray bottle per Dr. Bonz' directions. My car had never been clayed since I put Klasse polish on it about one month after I got it.

My first impression was that claying the car really cleaned the surface. It was much easier to do than I expected. Just follow the directions. After the first coat of Z2 I wasn't overally impressed with the shine, but by the time the second coat was on the car looked like it did with five or six coats of Klasse polish, but without any water spots. The third coat made it look even better. The finish is more transparent looking than with the Klasse polish. After the third coat I used the new Z8 to finish the car off. It looks great!

Dr. Bonz, I do have a few questions for you if you don't mind.

1. How often should you clay the car? Did you just do it once before you started with Zano or do you do it periodically, ie. annually or semi-annually?

2. I was able to get three coats of Z2 (with Z6 in between) on my car from approximately one ounce of Z2 (a touch more) and 2 drops of ZFX, is that too thin or is that an acceptable ratio?

3. How many layers of Z2 can you put on the car without distorting the way the surface looks?

4. When do you or do you use Z8? Can it be used in place of Z6 between layers of Z2 or is it best to use to finish off the process at the end or when you need that special shine like at a car show?

Thanks.

I would like to know this as well. I'm still not sure if clay strips off zaino.

Acceptable ratio.

As many as you want

Can be used in place of Z6, but since it's more expensive, why not just use it as a finisher?

Thanks Wired 24/7. Hopefully Dr. Bonz will give us his opinion about how often to clay the car and whether it removes Zaino.

Another question. Can Z5 be layered on top of layers of Z2? I noticed that Dr. Bonz' directions say use Z5 twice then Z2. I used all Z2.

You can alternate between Z5, Z2, it doesn't matter. I have noticed that Z5 seems to work better with some Z2 on top of it.

Just keep applying coats until you're satisfied. Add a couple Z5, then a Z2. If you're satisfied with how the swirl marks look, just switch to Z2. If you think the swirlies still show up, add a couple more coats of Z5.

Just as a note: I was going over the car today with a coat of Z-2, and I noticed a few specks of road tar. They were really stuck on there. I hope clay doesn't strip off the zaino, because I sure would like to get rid of those specks.

And I have mostly city driving with only 2400 miles. So, I'd say that if clay doesn't strip zaino, then I'd probably use it once every oil change (or every other oil change)roughly...

The claybar will not remove the Zaino. I think most people clay their cars once a year, but it really depends on where you park/drive, etc. I clayed mine a couple months after I bought the car and havent done it since (almost 2 years ago). The paint is still smooth as glass.

I put two coats of Z5 and another coat of Z2 on the Z today with Z6 in between and Z8 to finish. Car looks great. Hopefully I am done for a while. The six layers should last me at least a couple of months, hopefully until after the fall car shows.

Dr. Bonz must be on vacation. Can't wait to hear what he has to say about when to clay the car.
