Stay away from ALL the spray-on-let-sit products. They are basically acid based and can cause real damage to your clearcoat wheels.

Im not as careful with the rims as I am the hood, but your right. I dont worry about swirl marks in the rims tho. just wash them with the rag you washed the car with at the very end. feel free to jam your hand all the way in there and keep the inside of the rim nice and shiny.
When I use simple green on my wheels, I dilute it 50% and I clean the wheels right away and hose them off. I also wax the wheels everytime I wax my car................ Do you get brake dust on your hood? J/K
I usually use two buckets of soap to wash my car. One of them is for wheels only. I wash my wheels with regular car wash. If they haven't been cleaned in a long time, I use a mild degreaser such as Espree Wheel Cleaner (green) to aid in washing them. Always wash them off as your final step so as to neutralize any acid in the degreaser. Rinse each wheel and follow with a wax of your choice.

I just ordered some WheelWax, which looks like a really nice product over at properautocare. I'll let you guys know how good it is. They claim you can apply it to dirty wheels to get the brake dust and grime off and then apply another coat like wax. We'll see...
