I mean wow... now thats its pollen season I got pissed off seeing my car yellow 30 min after i washed my car. I went to Target and bought it for %$9.99. It is by far the BEST investment I have made. Whenever I get out of class it takes less than 1 min to get all that pollen off (without scratching your paint).


Im so happy. I just wanted to share this, and really encourage everyone gets one of there. I was skeptical about it..... boy was I wrong

 

Last thing I would want to do is drag any dust, pollen, particles etc... along my painted surfaces with anything, let alone dry cloth. I would much rather just keep some quick shine or meguires quick detailer and some microfibers. More work, but much better protection IMO

 

Contrary to popular misconceptions, the Cali Duster is one of the best and safest ways to remove dust, pollen, etc. You don't drag stuff across your paint. It captures and lifts the particles off your paint. I'm not sure how you're going to use a detailing spray and microfiber towel without dragging it across the paint.

If you've ever been to a car show, especially a concours level show, one of the most common tools you'll see in everybody's bag of tricks is the Cali Duster. It didn't get that kind of following by being harmful to a perfect looking paint job.

 

I have used the duster for a while now and it does work great. It does not "drag" the dust rather it lifts it into the duster. It has am oil coating that will leave streaks but this is the same principal used in commercial cleaning. (this is what I do for a living) After a cleaning then you can use a detailer (Z8) to remove the streaks and your finish will look great, especially black.

Get a new one every year even though the dirtier it gets the better it works.

Try it, i think you will be happy. It is very gentle to your surface. I have not seen any swirl marks from it and I use it 3-4 times a week. I do the two bucket method with lambs wool mit and microfiber towels so I am very perticular. (Zaino helps also)

 

ur suppose to replace it every year? I just had it for 2 weeks so I didnt know that... I thought that when it gets very dirty u can wash it..... guess I was wrong...


Then again if its not washable its no loss... its 9 bucks.... and saves so much time and money (if i wanted to wash my car 2 times a day)

 

I am not sure when they suggest to replace it. They advertise that the dirtier it is the cetter it works and I can't really argue with that but for 10 bucks it makes sense to get a new one every year. IMO, maybe someone who has more experience than me can chime in...

 

I only wash my car every other month thanks to the California duster <3

 

I've seen some that are incredibly dirty, so I guessing people keep them for more than just one or two years. I've had mine two years and it hardly looks dirty at all.

BTW, if you are still getting streaks of wax on your paint, you need to sit the duster on a piece of newspaper overnight so it will absorb the excess paraffin.

There is a process for washing it, but make sure you follow the instructions explicitly. Guys have posted that theirs stopped working after washing it in warm or hot water. That melts the paraffin off. I believe you have to wash it in cold water with something like Woolite.

I've been using one for a while and it does work great. I've been told that the dirtier it gets the better it works and I wouldn't disagree. Crazy though, that concept goes against what your would normally think but the thing works.

ive personally seen the cali car duster absolutely rip through black paint(my old car). so therefore i dont use it on my Z

 

Meguiar’s Versa-Angle Body Duster is better and does not leave those greasy streaks on the car as the CA Duster does

 

If you think you've gotten scratches/swirls from it, then you're probably doing something wrong and I'd be willing to bet it doesn't involve the Cali Duster.

 

Dave is right are you lightly dusting or with pressure

 

+1. You don't have to apply any sort of pressure, just barely let it contact the surface. Also, you probably wouldn't want to use it on a car with more than a couple of days dust build-up. I use mine every morning, sometimes in the evening as well if it's been windy.

My Z is black and scratch free using the combination of the duster, quick detailer and microfiber cloths. Oh yeah, and it still looks awesome after a week, even two if I haven't been able to wash it.

 

Ed, how much is the Meguiar's and where can I buy it? I think I'm going to go ahead and buy one...
