I am about half way through waxing my car now and was wondering if layering works with this wax. It is the type that looks like yogurt.
Heard some people say if you put a second layer on, it only takes off the first layer.

NXT Tech Wax is a one-step wax meaning that it cleans and shines. The cleaning property works by essentially removing the old wax (which of course is your current layer of NXT).
NXT Question:
The bottle says to apply with an applicator pad, but doesn't mention if it should be damp or not. I know this made a big difference in the ease of app. with Zaino and was wondering what y'all recommend.

Used nxt for the first time the other day. This stuff does not come off easy. I found it worked best with a thin coat. Apply it thick and it is almost impossible to get off. Also, Instead of putting more than one coat of the nxt, I put a couple of coats of carnuba on top of the nxt. worked great for me

Removing CC with a polish btw, is really the only way to remove swirls, etching, and oxide. Your paint won't meet it's potential without doing this on occassion. If you don't want to take all the effort to polish a one step abrasive cleaner (not NXT) is certainly a safe, though less effective way to remove those defects with periodic use.
usually use some sort of polish (depending on the paint) and the use a wax...but for awesome result wait 12-36 hours in between coats...if u read on autopia.org...this allows the previous layer to harden before the second is applied....this applies to carnuba waxes and such.
You could also apply a synthetic wax and then a carnuba wax for shine and durability
