Just wondering if anyone has used a 3M clear bra. If so, how hard was it to install, are you happy?

I'm very mechanically inclined and I'm sure I could install it. Just want to know what your experiences were.

 

There's quite a few people here that have it on their cars. Try a search on the topic....I'm sure you'll find the answers you're looking for.

NO way in HELL I would try and install it. I got it installed on my wifes jetta a few years ago too. BUT back then the light protectors were NOT DOT approved so they wouldn't install them, BUT gave me enuf to do them myself. It was a pain in the BUTT, keep in mind the jetta lights are fairly flat, square and small (campared to a whole panel). I am used to putting custom stickers on helmets, motocross bike, and mountain bikes, I even put this kind of protector on my snow skis, so I am familiar with it, BUT it was a total PAIN.

do yourself a favor, pay for someone to do it, you could ruin the kit if you dont

 

^Listen to this guy, don't do it yourself. As a matter of fact I'm getting the clear bra put on tomorrow.

 

I installed the Xpel/Invisiguard full kit on my 350Z, and I'm hardly a professional. It's not rocket science, but requires patience and an extra pair of hands.

 

Honestly, mechanical inclination is not much of a benefit in correctly installing paint protection film. I would suggest if there is an instaler near you to go and see the work that goes into an install before deciding to try it on your own.

Then there are people like Dean that are naturals. Hey Dean, if you ever move out to the SF bay area we can always use another good installer

 

Jeremy is quite correct. The 350Z kit is one of the more difficult clear bra patterns to install properly. If I lived around the SoCal area, I would have Jeremy's crew at Invisiguard install my kit in a heartbeat.

My problem was that here in BFE North Carolina the nearest Xpel installer was nearly 3 hours away from me.

Thanks for the compliment, Jeremy, but I am NOT a natural. I screwed up a few kits the first time around. (Thanks again for bailing me out of the 350Z hood I messed up!) Once you appreciate the attention to detail it requires, it really isn't that bad. The smaller pieces and segments that are applied to relatively flat areas are easier than the complex curves.

My question is once you have it installed can you wax it along with the rest of the car or does it require something special. I would only be concerned with mataining a equal amount of shine on the shield and paint so it wouldn't start becoming obvious.

wax it up and show it off! you can use any wax over the film as you would on the paint. We usually recommend Ziano since its a polymer wax that doesnt leave a noticable white residue along the edges when dry. Other than that if you wax the film and the car with the same wax you should achieve a consistent finish between the film and paint. let me know if you have any other questions!

I have it. It is difficult but not impossible to install. I got mine from www.rockblocker.com. They have good prices for the kit.

I will say not say that I would do it everyday, but protecting my ride is worth the trouble

 

Does it work? I heard some rocks can go through. I mean under reasonable condition, not saying it should be bulletproof

 

Yeah I have heard that too. I think that is why the guarantee it not too. They have a damage warranty associated with them. Along with no yellowing too
