Thumbs down So some A55HOLE egged my car...

<rant>
I have no idea why this happened, I hardly even know anyone here.

I pulled an all-nighter last night at work (20hrs straight) and felt pretty good about the progress made. I go outside this morning to leave around 6:30am and find someone threw an egg at my car right behind the driver's side door handle.

The shell and stuff were all up inside the doorhandle and in the doorjamb near the doorhandle.

So in my delirous sleep-deprived condition I drove it to a nearby car wash (one of those touchless jet things) just to get this crap off my car. It didn't all come off.

So I get home and even them I'm completely exhausted, I wash my car. After rinsing it, I look at the spot and think "dammit, I didn't get it all off". Through closer inspection, it's not egg at all...

It seems that they threw this egg really ****ing hard. As it broke it cut into my paint/clearcoat. It's a circular impression that slightly fans out probably 3" across. Kind of like if you threw a baseball into a windshield.

Anyway, now I have this big hideous scratch/mark/chip whatever you want to call it that looks like a big round impact. I'm really not sure what to do. I'm really kind of upset about it being as I don't even really know anyone here. Why the hell did someone do this?

So now I'm at a loss as to what to do. I cleaned the surface and hit it with some z5 before I went to sleep (at about noon) but I haven't gone back and looked at it. I don't think it's going to make a difference. It's looking like I'll probably have to have the entire quarterpanel repainted. Any ideas?

****ing wonderful.

I think it's all from the egg. My understanding is that the egg will crack the paint when it hits. Not sure if the yoke does anything. And yes the ones I have seen before look like a windshield when it's been samshed.

I feel for you. Got my first door ding today. I'm sick to my stomach.

It's not so much a crack as it is a chip. From what I can tell the eggshell cut into the paint. The cuts in the paint all angle in and are consistant.

I had the exact same thing happen to me years ago. I was sitting at a store about to enter traffic and someone in a passing car threw an egg at someone walking on the sidewalk. Well they miss him and hit my drivers door dead center (Jetta Carat after only 2 weeks). That sucker must have been going about 45 when it hit and made the exact same pattern you described. What I did, and it took a fair amount of time to repair, was get the touchup paint and clear coat touchup. I then got the smallest paint brush I could find. Try an art supply store. I then filled the cips with color and let that dry. I then put a small amout of clearcoat over the spots. This will still look bad but don't worry. Next get some 2000 grit wet sanding paper and with a really small piece gently level out the area. Finally using a polishing compound to shine followed by a couple of coats of wax. After all this the area was just barely noticable and if you didn't know you may not have even noticed the repair. The alternative is take it to a shop and shell out about 500-800 bucks to get the entire door repainted.

Sorry about what happened. I REALLY know how you feel.

Cheers,
ZGone

If it happened to my Z, well all I can say is that I have a gun and a shovel and I am not afraid to use them.

Cheers.

Sorry to hear that happen to you Jeffrey. I know if that happened to my Z I'd be pissed as hell. Anytime I park the Z somewhere other then my garage I'm always abit nervous about something happening to it just because of these type of situations.

Hope you get that egg or whatever it is off.

your not alone man. i feel for u.

some turds threw the egg at my car while i was driving it. the roads were pretty empty so i was able to swerve and have it barely nick the panel, but it shattered all over my front left tire.

i followed the two bastards in their crusty *** explorer.
the guy was so worried about me not getting his plate so much that he kept swerving all over the road.
come on the guy was trying to lose ME with my Z?!?!?!?! how stupid can u be?
so i toyed with them very nicely until they made a hard U-turn almost to where he flipped his truck. had it on 2 wheels.

at that point i got a bit worried cause of how retarted that move was and backed off. i think they got the hint though. i'd still like to give them a good *** kickin if i ever find them.
i had cooked egg all over my tire by the time i got to a car wash.
sick sick smell.

the only lasting damage though was to my heart......my poor car had to go threw that. ill get over it eventually.
peace
