Default Interest in Full Hood 3M Coverage?

I have contacted a distributor of the 3M paint protection film about obtaining 48" wide sheets of material. This would cover almost the entire hood of our Z's. He currently only carries 24" and smaller widths but if there is a great enough interest he may be able to offer the widest width. Installing the film on the hood should be a breeze and would be great to cover the whole thing. If there is enough interest I'll let him know. He currently has up to 24" film for less than $8/ft so I don't know what kind of cost he could get the 48" for.

Cheers.

if it covers the WHOLE thing, itd be cool, cause the ones Ive seen, the line is pretty noticable, if the whole thing was covered, it would be much better.

i think we would all be interested,

You know if someone was really smart they would come up with scuff guards for the interior door panels, and the kick plates.

They would sell like mad.

not NEARLY as noticable as the amount of rock chips you get after 1 year. Seriously the 3m is hardly noticable unless you are looking for it.

I've got a G35 coupe and have the entire hood done. It covers the entire hood, but since the material is only 48" it doesn't cover the extreme corners. My installer put a nice curve to it so it looks like an OEM design line.

I've had my 3M Bra on since Sept and, as with all surfaces on a car, it tends to get those really fine swirls/scratches in it. My fear that an entire hood with these fins scratches in it might take away from the looks of such a great car. They (3M) say you can treat this surface the same as the car surface. Well then why don't the fine scratches buff out. I've got a really shiny clear bra with these little swirls that I can't seem to remove.

Soooo, check with other owners of the 3M product with regards to these scratches before putting this on your entire hood. Just my opinion.

4 months as my daily driver and I don't have any swirl marks or scratches in my bra. I think it's more noticeable on your car since it's black.

I got it done by Secondary Exposure. Top notch installation jobs. No kits!! They do a custom install with wrapped edges. They offered a deal for the G35 and 350z a while back for $390 for basic bra coverage. Now its back to 490 i think. They do bra installations for numerous dealerships around the city. http://www.se-ex.com They only do individual cars based on referrals only. Tell 'em afr0puff sent ya!

are you using rubbing compound on your Bra??

my wide has had it for 3 years on her car, NO swirls, then again, I don't "buff" it either. just wash it like the car, but don't use poishes, sealants, waxes, etc.... on it.

You can get it in 48 inch if you know who talk to. It has been out for awhile, but everyone is not carrying it. There are 28 Dist under 3M and most do not carry that size because of the lack of demand for it.

You can get intouch with www.rockblocker.com they can set you up with 48 inch plus a great deal for the kit.

48" 3m is $6.00 sq ft plus shipping
48" venture (no swirl marks) is $5.50 sq ft plus shipping.

the prices above are actually good for all widths of 3m or venture.

Mike,

I was considering the Venture film but was concerned about the fact that it does not have the clearcoat finish like the 3M. It does have a higher protection factor. How well does it hold up compared to 3m (i.e. waxing, cleaning, shine, application, etc.)?

Cheers.

venture is much tougher than 3m but is touchy to install. if you have to lift it during the install, the adheasive will separate from the film. for a beginner, I would recommend 3m.
