Default Quick Help

I tried searching but I couldnt really find anything...do any of you know if you could use regular dishwasher detergent instead of just dawn to remove the wax off the car? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I believe you could, but i am no expert. I think the reason dawn is suggested is becaues of the high alkline content.

Dishwashing detergent is a poor method to remove wax.

Dawn is usually recommended as it is an excellent degreaser and will strip wax, grease and other contaminants from a painted surface.

Because it is somewhat harsh, it is not recommended as a regular car wash. Over time it may dull the finish.

You can probably use any liquid detergent - it may not work as well as Dawn.

Why do you need to remove the wax to start?? Then we can probably advise you of a suitable method. I personally wouldn't put any dishwashing liquid near my car or anyone elses, but that's just me.

If you are uncertain about multi-step detailing, I suggest that you begin with a one-step wax. For recommendations see: https://my350z.com/forum/cleaning-and-detailing/199880-consumer-reports-latest-car-wax-ratings.html.
