Default How do you guys wash your MF towels and a Porter Cable Question..

How do you guys wash your MF towels...some of the cheaper ones like the ones from costco I throw away, but there are some that work amazing (Cobra MF towels, and the one you get from the Meguiar's clay bar kit) and I would rather reuse them...Given the fact that they absorb water, is it still possible to put them in the washer/dryer? How so?

PC Question: I watched some videos on youtube with the PC, and they recommend pinnacle. Can I use Zaino with a PC or is Pinnacle the most compatible with the PC polisher?

I only use Meguiar's MF towels. I handwash them first to remove the worst of the gunk, then they go into the washing machine. Then airdry the towels outside. This happens after every car wash, so the towels are kept pristine and to ultimately look after the paint.

there are tons of polishes/compounds/paint cleaners that you can use instead of pinnacle. you should check out autopia.com. depending on how bad your paint is you might want more than any of the zaino products offer. i just bought a PC, and a couple menzerna products for polishing, and plan on using zaino for sealant. there is tons to learn at autopia. it is overwhelming at first, imo, but a few days in and everything makes sense.

I use liquid detergent. I don't have any problems with left over dirt and grim in the towels.

I just bought one also, and pretty much the full line of Menzerna products (Intensive Polish, Final Polish II, finishing glaze, FMP wax). I tried it on my explorer which has been BADLY neglected for the past few years. It's black.. the results are quite amazing. Granted you're not going to take out gouges with it.. but swirls/small scratches are gone.. and the paint looks as good or better than new.

I'm sure other products work as well.. but I was impressed with both the buffer and the menzerna products.

my MF towels I machine wash with liquid detergent (not over-doing it) and either air dryer, or in the dryer with no heat or fabric softeners ... after every use.

I have the full kit from pinnacle with the pc, works ok, gonna go with zaino next because it didnt get all my swirls out.

Also I have several microfibers from meguiars i just throw them in the washing machine together and then use the dryer with a fabric softener, they come out spotless with particles left in them and work like new.

I do the same thing with my buffing pads as well.

1) Wash your MF towels by themselves in some liquid detergent. Dry them in the dryer (never with a Bounce or fabric softener) on low temp or hang them to dry.

2) You don't really need or want to use a PC to apply Zaino. It takes such a small amount of Zaino to do the Z, you'd waste too much try to get the applicator pad wet enough to work. The PC is great for working products like Swirl Mark Remover or polishing compounds. Regular Zaino (Z-2, Z-5) doesn't require "working". The Z-PC does require "working" so a PC would be appropriate when using it.

Don't you mean "without a fabric softener"

lol, I guess I meant a static free sheet cuz those things without one will put out enough static to power my house.

Those static-free sheets are essentially the same as using a Bounce sheet or using fabric softener. You really don't want to be using those with any detailing towels as it coats the towel and reduces its ability to pick up dirt and hold water. Plus, the next time you use it, your rubbing the coating onto your cars surface and possibly scratching it.
