Default How can I clean that clear plastic?

The part I'm talking about is that stuff next to the rear wheel wells. The edge of it is all brown and I'd like to get it back to clear again. What should I use? I don't want to start scrubbing on the edges and make it lose adhession. Thanks for your help!

oh, i know what you are talking about. Try some scratch x on it. As long as it doesn't have chips in that piece, it should come out.

Are you sure you know what part I'm talking about? On the bottom of the car, in front of the rear wheel wheel. It's a clear plastic piece that's either glued on or has some super sticky adhesive on it.

Your Z is black, that's why you can't see the edge being dirty. Someone with a PPW will know what I'm talking about.

i know exactly what you are talking about. Dirt gets caught up on the edges and you will see the outline of dirt on white and lighter colors.

Yes, David that's it. Thanks for the clarification.

I tried the scratchX even though I was unsure whether or not it would work. Well it did, and it didn't. It did take some of the dark edges away but not all of them. I didn't want to get too agressive cleaning them because I was afraid I might start pulling up the adhessive. I rubbed it in all over the plastic though and it seemed to really brighten it up. So overall I would say it did pretty good. I might have to live with a little bit of dirty edge though.

Seel, you can safely wax that clear plastic in front of the back wheel arches. If you are very careful and don't use an excessive amount of wax around this area, apply the wax, let dry, then use a clean cloth to remove the wax, paying extra attention to the edges without digging at them it should be fine.
My 200sx was bright yellow and around those back guards was still shiny bright yellow, no browning when I sold it, using the above mentioned directions.

I personally wouldn't use the Scratch X on that clear plastic.

If in doubt take some photos afterwards and we'll devise some other ideas.

I'm deffinitely going to try that. We are going to have rain for the next week or so but right after that I'm going to start looking into a new wax.

yes, try the scratch x. If you have it laying around, use it. If not, i guess its up to you to buy it or not. These plastics are found on mercedes and is what i use. So many bodyshops use the product "scratch x" on plastic as well.

unless, dirt has gotten in underneat the adhesion of the plastic, it will not come out with scratch x.

Wish my current Z had those. My first Z did, and simple light scrubbing along the line would take it off really. I just used a towel, and while washing the car I would scrup up and down that line. Worked fine for me. Sounds like you may have some under the adhesive. Hopefully a little more of the scratchx may take care of the rest!

It depends on the wax. Some brands will just not cut the mustard for what you are trying to achieve.
