Default Original California duster

Has any body used the Original California duster on there car? Does it scratch? I see all those classic car guys using it. They must have 10 coats of clear on those cars...

Yes, very common around here.

No, if used properly, it won't scratch.

Yes, you see them a lot at car shows.

Only use them for light dusting, and with no pressure applied to the car. Used in this manner, they are relatively safe and don't marr in my experience

+1 on both statements. As long as your using it for dust you should be fine. Don't try wiping dirt, bugs, or bird droppings with it, and you should be fine. I always carry one in my little cubby behind the passenger seat.

Remember, it's a "duster", not something you use to clean a dirty car.

^^^ That's what I was worried about. Bought one, but after reading the instructions and warnings I was afraid to try it. Haven't used it yet.

The waxy marks occured because you didn't read and follow the instructions. A new duster should be wrapped or placed on newspaper for a couple of days. Occasionally shake it and put it back on the paper. The paper absorbs the excess parafin from the threads of the duster.
